The Senior DevOps Systems Engineer is responsible for the network and maintenance of infrastructure and related systems for all Hallmark Media cloud environments. This includes testing, installation, troubleshooting, and optimization of cloud-based and on-premises systems. The role works closely with other engineering teams, application owners, EA/security and vendors to ensure accurate documentation, maximum uptime, unified architecture, and secure, scalable solutions.

The salary range for this job is between $110,100—$149,800. Salary rate will take into consideration several factors including location.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Create, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.

Monitor system performance and availability and implement proactive solutions/tests to ensure high uptime and reliability.

Collaborate with software engineers, application owners, vendors and security teams to support workflow pipelines and cloud-native applications and operations, including incident response as needed.

Implement and manage cloud security best practices including IAM, encryption, compliance controls and vulnerability remediation.

Optimize cloud costs through resource planning, rightsizing, and usage analysis.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure, networking, and system performance.

Maintain documentation for cloud architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.

Assist in documenting, managing and auditing cloud applications and network traffic via tools like NACLs, firewalls, routing and load balancers.

Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and recommend improvements or innovations.

Standardize and automate processes/tests and monitoring using scripting technologies (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).

Install and configure operating systems and software components; document design, maintenance, and support procedures.

Routinely test software for bugs, redundancies, and security issues.

Assist in conducting high-level root-cause analysis for service interruptions and establishing preventive measures.

Leverage GenAI tools for productivity gains. BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

8+ years of experience in cloud engineering or systems administration.

Hands-on experience with one or more major cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).

Experience with containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration tools.

Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus).

Strong understanding of networking concepts, VPCs, DNS, VPNs, and firewalls.

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator Associate, GCP Professional Cloud Architect).

Experience with hybrid cloud environments and cloud migration strategies.

Experience with serverless architectures and microservices.

Knowledge of Unix system administration.

Experience managing AWS products and services, such as EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, IAM, etc.

Knowledge of current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, system performance-monitoring tools, active directories, virtualization, HTTP traffic, content delivery, and caching.

Experience in project management, application design and integration, and cloud computing (specifically AWS).

Expertise in creating, analyzing, and repairing large-scale distributed systems.

Knowledge of Git or other version control.
