TITLE: Receptionist
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
Six (6) months of experience in performing receptionist or general clerical duties or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Operate a multi-line telephone system, computer, and other standard office equipment
Handle a high volume of telephone calls with courtesy, speed, and accuracy
Typing and computer skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to multitask
Poised, diplomatic, and congenial manner
Well-groomed appearance
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator
JOB GOAL:
This position is responsible for the professional and efficient managing of visitors, consumers, telephone calls, and messages, as well as a variety of clerical duties that support office support functions, including word processing and filing; and performs related duties as assigned; information and referral and the operation and presentation of a professional office.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including but not limited to:
Front Desk Coordinator:
Manages the site’s lobby area
Ensures completion of paperwork, sign-in, and security procedures
Maintains records of room bookings for events, training, and meetings
Receptionist:
Greets visitors, handles incoming calls and performs general administrative duties
Assists other administrative staff with overflow work, including word processing, data entry, and internet research tasks when necessary
Switchboard Operator:
Places, receives, and routes calls
Answers and directs incoming calls; takes messages when needed
Supplies information to callers, relays messages, and announces visitors 2 - Receptionist
Office Assistant:
Performs basic clerical tasks, such as systematically arranging letters, memoranda, invoices, and other indexed documents according to an established system
Operates basic office equipment and completes general office work
Sorts and routes incoming materials; may require computer and data entry skills
Mail Assistant:
Sorts and distributes incoming and outgoing mail
Performs other duties as assigned
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
238 days annually
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the evaluation procedures for classified employees of the Lafayette County School District
