Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Operational Excellence, the Operational Excellence Specialist is responsible for driving operational efficiency, reducing waste, and improving business processes across Gifthealths warehouse, pharmacy, and logistics operations. This position requires a hands?on, adaptable team player who can quickly identify processes that are not working, pivot as needed, and take full ownership of initiatives through completion.
We are seeking an Operational Excellence Specialist to support our continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and related methodologies to standardize workflows, enhance safety, reduce operational waste, and improve environmental impact. The role partners closely with operational and business leaders to identify inefficiencies, design sustainable solutions, and execute improvement initiatives from planning through implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, operational excellence, and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Develops and executes phased operational improvement plans aligned to company objectives
Leads continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S methodologies across warehouse, pharmacy, and logistics operations
Partners with operations leadership to identify inefficiencies and implement sustainable process improvements
Designs, documents, and standardizes operating procedures across warehouse operations, eCommerce fulfillment, and value?added services
Conducts process audits and gap analyses to identify waste, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities
Leads root?cause analysis for operational failures and implements corrective and preventive improvements (process?focused)
Develops training materials and supports change management for process improvements
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelors degree in supply chain management, operations management, engineering, or related field (Required)
Formal training in continuous improvement or operational excellence (Preferred)
Licensure/Certification: Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) (Preferred)
Experience:
5+ years of experience in operations management, logistics, warehousing, or 3PL environments (Required)
Demonstrated experience leading process improvement initiatives (Required)
Experience in high?growth or multi?site operational environments (Preferred)
Experience working across warehouse, pharmacy, and logistics operations (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies; warehouse, logistics, and fulfillment operations; process standardization and operational best practices; and safety and waste reduction principles (Required)
Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices within operations and pharmacy or regulated logistics environments (Preferred)
Strong analytical and problem?solving skills (Required)
Process mapping, workflow analysis, and documentation skills (Required)
Project management skill with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously (Required)
Data analysis tools (Excel, BI dashboards, or similar) skills (Preferred)
Facilitation of Kaizen events or improvement workshops (Preferred)
Ability to Identify inefficient or broken processes and design practical solutions (Required)
Ability to drive initiatives forward independently and through influence (Required)
Ability to adapt quickly to changing operational needs (Required)
Ability to influence change across multiple departments and leadership levels (Preferred)
Work Environment
Location: On?site
Schedule: 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday with night and weekend hours on occasion as determined by the needs of the business and cross?facility travel as needed
Regular meetings with internal Warehouse, Pharmacy, Logistics, Safety, Compliance, Quality, Training, and Operations Management teams. This role may also have meetings with external vendor and consultant partner representatives.
Key Essential Functions
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while writing or reviewing documentation
Must be able to work on a computer for the entire shift
Must be able to attend virtual meetings with cross?functional teams.
