Position Overview

Stratos Solutions has an opportunity for a GEOINT Flight Engineer to support an Intelligence Community (IC) Space customer in Chantilly, VA. The selected candidate will serve as a trusted systems engineering advisor supporting the integration, readiness, and operational oversight of GEOINT mission systems.

This role provides mission-focused systems engineering and technical advisory support across spacecraft, payload, ground, and processing architectures. The successful candidate will assist the government in planning, evaluating, and overseeing the integration of GEOINT satellite capabilities to meet national intelligence objectives. The position requires strong technical depth across space systems and the ability to provide independent, unbiased engineering assessments to senior government leadership.

Responsibilities

The GEOINT Flight Engineer will provide systems engineering and technical advisory support across GEOINT space and ground mission systems.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Systems Engineering & Technical Advisory

Serve as a trusted technical advisor supporting GEOINT mission systems across spacecraft bus, payload, command and control, mission planning, and data processing architectures.

Provide objective, independent assessments of technical performance, integration activities, and system readiness.

Represent government interests in technical discussions with program stakeholders and contractor teams. Integration & Cross-System Analysis

Assess integration activities in the context of cross-system dependencies including technical, resource, and schedule considerations.

Identify risks, issues, and opportunities; develop mitigation strategies and actionable recommendations.

Evaluate project reviews, program milestones, and decision gates, providing "ground truth" technical assessments. Mission Planning & Acquisition Support

Assist the government in identifying mission needs, operational concepts, and requirements to inform acquisition and budget efforts.

Support development or assessment of:

Concept of Operations (CONOPS)

Requirements Documents

Test Plans

Contract Statements of Work (SOWs)

Systems Engineering Plans (SEPs)

Provide support to government acquisition efforts and source selections. Systems Studies & Technical Analysis

Support systems engineering and integration studies, process analysis, and project management assessments.

Provide technical analysis and recommendations supporting mission performance, readiness, and long-term planning.

Contribute to staff coordination activities including action items, weekly reports, and executive-level briefings. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

Collaborate proactively with government personnel and contractor teams across multiple organizational levels and sites.

Present technical findings and recommendations to senior government managers and executives.

Facilitate coordination and consensus across diverse technical stakeholders. Required Qualifications

Education & Clearance

Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field)

(Master's degree in STEM with relevant experience preferred)

Active TS/SCI with Polygraph

U.S. Citizenship Technical & Functional Skills

Technical knowledge of spacecraft systems including bus and payload architectures and key subsystems (e.g., attitude determination and control, propulsion, communications).

Knowledge of ground communications systems, mission planning, command and control systems, and mission data processing architectures.

Understanding of orbital mechanics and associated analytical tools.

Experience supporting GEOINT space and ground mission systems.

Familiarity with mission readiness processes, control gates, and entry/exit criteria.

Strong analytical and systems integration skills.

Polished written and verbal communication skills with ability to brief senior government stakeholders.

Self-starter with ability to independently address complex and abstract technical challenges.

Familiarity with Digital Engineering, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Agile development practices, and cloud technologies. Desired Skills / Qualifications

Experience in real-time space operations as a spacecraft operator, spacecraft engineer, or ground systems operator.

Familiarity with space operations policies and mission assurance frameworks.

Experience supporting integration of GEOINT satellite payloads and mission data systems.

Experience supporting government technical reviews and milestone assessments.

Experience supporting acquisition or budget formulation activities within the IC or DoD space enterprise.
