Overview
The Columbus Crew is seeking an early-career Junior Data Engineer to join our Business Analytics team. This role is focused on building and maintaining data pipelines, improving data quality, and reengineering internal processes to support business operations across the organization.
This position is designed for candidates beginning their professional careers in data engineering and information systems. Strong technical fundamentals are required. Interest in sports is welcomed, but this is a data-first role.
What You Will Do
Develop, maintain, and support ETL integrations and data pipelines
Write and optimize SQL queries, views, functions, and stored procedures
Monitor and validate data accuracy across multiple systems
Identify data quality issues and implement corrective solutions
Gather requirements from business stakeholders and translate them into technical solutions
Analyze and reengineer existing workflows to improve efficiency and reliability
Create and maintain flowcharts and process documentation
Develop and publish reports and dashboards
Support data processes during business-critical periods, including games and events
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related technical discipline
Approximately 0-2 years of professional experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, business intelligence, or related technical work
Demonstrated foundational knowledge of relational databases and SQL
Technical Skills
SQL (Microsoft T-SQL preferred)
ETL tools (SSIS or comparable platforms preferred)
Reporting tools (Tableau, SSRS, or similar)
Basic object-oriented programming experience (C# or similar language preferred)
Experience documenting processes and building workflow diagrams or flowcharts

Work Environment
In-person position located in Columbus, OH
Standard business hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:30 PM
Occasional evenings and weekends required to support games and events
This position requires extended computer-based work and periodic attendance at organizational events.
