Now hiring an experienced Transportation Structural Engineer (Project Engineer II) to lead the management and design of transportation structures projects, with a primary focus on bridge design and rehabilitation. This role is responsible for maintaining project budgets and schedules while serving as a technical advisor to design engineers and supporting project delivery from design through construction.
Position Responsibilities
Manage and design transportation structures projects, including new bridge design and rehabilitation.
Maintain project scope, budget, schedule, and quality standards across assigned projects.
Prepare contract bid documents and support construction phase services.
Coordinate with subconsultants and multidisciplinary partners to support project delivery.
Lead design engineers and drafting personnel; provide technical direction and mentoring.
Interface with clients, build relationships, and support ongoing client coordination.
Support project management activities and participate in business development efforts as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited program.
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Maryland.
10–15 years of relevant structural design experience, with an emphasis on bridge and transportation structures.
Demonstrated experience applying AASHTO LRFD bridge design standards.
Experience working with the Maryland Department of Transportation.
Strong knowledge of structural design principles for steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete components.
Ability to manage projects of varying size and complexity while maintaining quality, budget, and schedule.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Three or more years of experience leading design engineers and drafting personnel.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office environment with limited physical demands and occasional standing and walking.
