Associate Product Engineer - Electrical Distribution

As an Associate Product Engineer, you'll support our Sales and Project teams by providing technical expertise on electrical distribution equipment and solutions. This is a hands-on role designed for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with drawings and technical specs, and collaborating with both customers and internal teams. You will assist with reviewing project layouts, helping select equipment, managing order details, and providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle all while developing your knowledge of electrical systems and products.

What you will be doing as a key player on our dynamic team:

Completes electrical distribution take-offs with high attention to detail building the bill of material (BOM).

Order entry in manufacturer portals and internal systems as needed.

Partners with manufacturers, Sales Executives, and Product Engineer to optimize material pricing, gross margin, and stocking strategy.

Meets set project timelines, engaging Product Engineer, Sales Executives, and Account Managers as needed.

Develop working knowledge of Loeb's stocked electrical distribution inventory to recommend stock utilization, identify gaps, and suggest inventory improvements that support customer demand, project velocity, and margin optimization.

Develop understanding of cost drivers including freight, configuration complexity, lead times, and stocking impact to support margin protection and profitability goals.

Identify potential project risks including long lead items, configuration constraints, and manufacturer limitations, and proactively communicate mitigation strategies.

Build working relationships with key manufacturer partners (Eaton, ABB, others) to support configuration accuracy, resolve technical issues, and improve project execution.

Support product standardization initiatives that improve repeatability, reduce complexity, and align with stocking strategy across national account programs.

Utilize data (BOM trends, margin analysis, inventory usage, project KPIs) to identify opportunities for process improvement and performance optimization.

Respond to technical questions from customers, contractors, and team members.

Support troubleshooting efforts on product application, wiring diagrams, or layout questions.

Build expertise in electrical distribution equipment through mentorship, training, and hands-on project work.

Collaborate and communicate internally with project team members using established tools and processes.

Gain familiarity with tools like AutoCAD, pricing/configuration software, internal tools, and product specification resources. Education:

Bachelor's degree OR equivalent hands-on experience. Experience:

5+ years of experience in technical project coordination, or customer support role within electrical distribution, construction, or manufacturing. Core Competencies:

Collaborative mindset with a desire to learn and grow. Technical Skills:

Advanced understanding of electrical distribution equipment.

Experience reading one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and layout drawings.

Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel required).

Familiarity with AutoCAD, Epicor Eclipse, SmartSheet, or manufacturer (ABB & Eaton) configuration tools is a plus (training provided). Essential Job Functions:

Lifting/Carrying: Occasionally required to lift and carry office materials, files, or supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.

Sitting/Standing/Walking: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk using a computer; occasional standing, walking, or moving between departments or meeting locations.

Reaching/Handling: Regular reaching, grasping, and handling of office materials; frequent use of hands and fingers for keyboarding, writing, filing, and operating office equipment.

Vision: Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus, necessary for reading documents, using a computer, and reviewing documents.

Hearing/Speaking: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, by phone, and in virtual/video meetings; ability to hear instructions and interact with team members and customers.

Environmental Conditions: Work performed primarily in a professional office environment with minimal exposure to adverse conditions. May occasionally involve travel to other company sites, vendor locations, or offsite meetings.

PPE Use: Generally not required; however, may occasionally be necessary depending on location (e.g., close toed shoes, high-visibility vest when visiting the warehouse).
