Purpose

Seeking two motivated interns to assist engineering staff over Summer break.

Full-time, up to 40 hours per week. Up to a maximum of six months.

Essential Job Duties

Assists in data collection and validation of curb ramps.

Supports engineering staff in developing plans, specifications and estimates.

Participates in job site inspections.

Performs site visits to collect field measurements and data.

Performs engineering vault scanning and organization.

Reviews City codes and standard policies to ensure compliance and adherence.

Performs engineering calculations under the supervision of a licensed engineer.

Adheres to established safety procedures and utilizes safety equipment as required.

Performs other duties as assigned. Qualification Requirements

High School Diploma or GED. Completion of college level courses in Civil Engineering preferred.

Lawful and active WA Driver License.

Proficiency in operating office equipment and performing Microsoft Office software functions. Prefers knowledge of:

Standard constructions plans and specifications. Requires the ability to:

Consistently represent the City by maintaining a professional demeanor in all activities.

Use appropriate PPE and safety equipment and follow safety policies, practices and procedures.

Work outside in all weather conditions and seasonal temperature ranges.

Be attentive to detail and maintain a high degree of data entry accuracy.

Walk varying terrain, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop and kneel.

Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

The City of Wenatchee has adopted a policy measuring the 'full-time' status of temporary employees over 12-months for purposes of benefit eligibility. Temporary employees with assignments less than 6-months are not eligible for benefits with exception of participation in the WA State Department of Retirement System (DRS) as long as DRS eligibility requirements are met (compensated for at least 70 hours per month for five months in a 12-month period). There will be no retroactivity applied to benefits or any other employment terms and conditions should regular employment be offered at a future date.
