This role is part of our Forward Slope (FSI) division,which focuses on C2, engineering, cyber, and international programs. FSI integrates complex systems, transforms geospatial and operational data into clear insights, and supports naval, joint, and allied missions with technical rigor and global perspective.

Accelint is seeking a Backend Software Engineer III to help design, build, and evolve features and modules for a Command and Control (C2) platform. In this role, you will contribute to backend services that support mission-critical operations, geospatial visualizations, and force planning. You will take ownership of backend capabilities, influence architectural decisions, and mentor other engineers while delivering reliable systems for customers around the world.

Senior Backend Software Engineer (Level III) - Product Development

Full time

Remote, Hybrid, and Onsite options - San Diego, CA Duties & Responsibilities

Design, implement, and evolve various subsystems that make up our modular C2 platform

Translate operational and product requirements into robust backend capabilities

Break down complex problems using use case analysis, specifications, and UML-style design artifacts

Own backend capability streams end-to-end, from design through deployment and sustainment

Apply design patterns and engineering best practices to ensure system reliability and scalability

Design and maintain data models, APIs, and service integrations

Mentor other engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical guidance

Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and platform architecture Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or related field

7+ years of demonstrated development experience with:

Object-oriented programming experience (e.g., Go, Python)

Delivering production systems where reliability and correctness are critical

Passion for high-quality, well-tested, maintainable code

Mentoring or technically leading other engineers

Proficiency in all or some of the following areas:

Complex data modeling and database design

Data Access Layer (DAL) design patterns

Asynchronous messaging technologies (e.g., WebSockets, NATS.io)

Relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)

Standards-based REST API design and implementation

Authentication and authorization using OIDC / OAuth 2.0

Unit testing frameworks and testing strategies

Build dependency management tools

Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) Preferred Qualifications

Frontend technologies (Node.js, React, TypeScript)

GitLab CI/CD build automation

GIS data management or processing

CesiumJS Clearance Requirements

Some positions will require access to U.S. National Security information. Positions that require this access will be required to receive and maintain a U.S. government personnel security clearance (PCL). In order to qualify for this position, the candidate must be a US Citizen and either currently possess this National Security eligibility or be able to complete the investigation application process with a favorable determination and maintain that eligibility throughout their employment. The pay range for this role is:

125,000 - 175,000 USD per year (San Diego, CA (FSI))
