Job Summary
As a Foundry Operations Manager, you will lead the charge in building and managing the hourly foundry operators responsible for the full investment casting process from pattern production, to pouring, to post-processing. This isn't a desk-based management role; we are looking for a leader with a high degree of tenacity for hands-on, gritty operational work who can navigate a complex technical landscape and ideally has lived on the foundry floor taking personal accountability for safety, quality, delivery, and yield. You will set the operating cadence of the foundry while building the team, systems, and discipline required to scale.
This position's internal job code is Sr Manager, Production. We are currently hiring for Level 5.
Responsibilities
Serve as the individual accountable for foundry operations across multiple shifts
Establish the organizational structure and recruit requisite personnel to build a world-class Foundry Operations team
Define the organization's overall strategy, objectives, and roadmap to meet business targets, including operational expenditures, headcount planning, footprint/layout requirements, etc.
Establish the shift cadence, ensuring the team meets safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics
Own onboarding and training programs for the hourly foundry operators, establishing a culture operational excellence via effective development and application of each individual's skills
Manage operational improvement initiatives to eliminate hazards, prevent non-conformances, reduce lead time, and drive down cost by challenging requirements and applying first-principles thinking to novel manufacturing challenges
Set and champion organizational policy and standards that enable production autonomy, foster an environment of continuous improvement, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements
Advocate for the operators and ensure their perspective and feedback is represented across all aspects of the business, from day to day tasks to executive strategy and planning
Manage executive communications and cross-functional relationships to inform/execute improvement opportunities, ensure alignment of priorities between organizations, and focus efforts to relentlessly drive down lead time and labor hours Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of experience in manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, or test engineering in aerospace, automotive, or commercial industries
3+ years of experience directly managing non-exempt manufacturing personnel in aerospace, automotive, or commercial industries
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to scale production throughput in a high volume manufacturing setting
Proven track record of inspiring operators, building consensus across cross-functional teams to overcome operational blockers, and driving complex initiatives to completion on budget and schedule
Functional understanding of production tracking, scheduling, and manufacturing systems Preferred Skills/Experience
Direct experience with investment casting processes including shell building, burnout, pouring, and finishing
Familiarity with aerospace or defense casting quality systems
5+ years of experience directly managing non-exempt manufacturing personnel in aerospace, automotive, or commercial industries
1+ years of experience in a senior leadership role
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
Experience creating and delivering presentations to executive leadership Additional Requirements

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline. Salaries are based on demonstrated candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Level 5: $144,500-$187,000
