NBC4 Columbus is looking for a Senior Assignment Editor to help lead our daily newsgathering efforts for broadcast, digital platforms, and our streaming app. The ideal candidate will coordinate coverage of planned and unplanned events with enterprise content creation, digital-exclusive stories, segments and shows, and help shape our increasing streaming presence.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
· Organize and assign stories for broadcast, digital platforms, and streaming app
· Coordinate and dispatch field crews to breaking and scheduled news events
· Monitor scanners, news releases, emails, and social media for story leads
· Communicate with Nexstar affiliates and content partners for story sharing and collaboration
· Develop compelling, local content to maximize engagement on all platforms
· Other duties as assigned

· Strong editorial judgment and ability to identify compelling, audience-focused stories
· Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
· Confident leader who communicates clearly, makes decisions quickly and remains calm under pressure
· Must be flexible and able to adapt to a fast-paced, evolving news environment
· Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and overnights as needed
Work Environment/Physical Requirements: High stress environment with deadline pressures and the demands of breaking news. Position requires managing multiple immediate, short-term and long-term projects.
Applicants should have a minimum of two years of newsroom experience.
