The Lead Implementation Specialist (LIS) serves as the senior operational point of contact for both internal teams and external stakeholders, including clients, throughout the implementation of Mercans’ services.

This role oversees the operational aspects of global payroll and SaaS implementations, ensuring that clients’ business requirements are accurately collected, analyzed, and documented in line with Mercans’ processes. The LIS translates these requirements to internal teams and verifies, through standard testing protocols, that system configurations meet both client expectations and statutory requirements.

The LIS is also responsible for delivering operational training to clients and ensuring that all Hypercare exit criteria are achieved, facilitating a smooth transition to Business As Usual (BAU) operations. Additionally, the LIS manages communications related to operational activities during implementations, collaborating closely with the assigned Implementation Project and Program Managers.

Key Responsibilities:

Planning & Kick-off:

Understand the contractual scope for client implementations.

Support the Project Manager (PM) in developing a project plan and deliverables aligned with the scope.

Set up client access to required systems such as HR Blizz (HRB) and Google Drive, including creation of HRB instances.

Readiness Activities:

Ensure all implementation toolkit items are prepared and available to clients in coordination with relevant stakeholders.

Requirements Gathering:

Lead operational business requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation using standard implementation artifacts (Business Blueprint, Data Dictionary, Wage Type Catalogue, etc.).

Identify and document process or scope gaps and escalate as needed to the PM and client.

System Configuration:

Deliver complete and timely business requirements documentation to the Configuration Factory (CF).

Schedule clarification sessions with CF and clients if needed.

Prepare parallel and production environments.

Integrations:

Coordinate requirements gathering for integrations (e.g., Data Dictionary, Wage Type Catalogue).

Conduct operational testing of integrations as applicable.

Master Data Migration:

Plan and prepare master data migration templates.

Guide clients through data migration steps, including cleansing, loading, and validation.

Provide YTD data extracts and investigate discrepancies.

Ensure YTD data is loaded in compliance with statutory and client-specific requirements.

Testing:

Conduct, document, and evidence end-to-end operational testing (UAT, SBT, parallel runs) following Mercans’ standard methodology.

Conduct client-specific testing if required.

Documentation:

Ensure full documentation of implementation processes and provide evidence for QCRM/Internal Audit teams.

Training:

Deliver operational training and provide all relevant SOPs and materials to clients.

Go-Live Readiness:

Complete cutover activities from Acceptance to Production environments.

Test Production environment and load relevant balances.

Hypercare:

Support clients with production payroll runs.

Ensure Hypercare exit criteria are met.

Complete handover to BAU teams and obtain formal signoff.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or IT.

Minimum 9 years of experience in the payroll industry.

At least 7 years of experience in global payroll implementations.

Strong ability to document complex payroll concepts in English.

Excellent communication skills to clearly explain complex payroll concepts to clients.
