Position Summary We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented CAD Intern to support our Engineering team during the design, installation, and startup of a greenfield manufacturing facility.
This role provides hands-on exposure to industrial layouts, equipment drawings, and engineering documentation used in a high-precision manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities CAD Drafting & Drawing Support Assist with creation and revision of 2D and 3D CAD drawings, layouts, and details Support updates to equipment layouts, utilities routing, and general arrangement drawings Incorporate markups, redlines, and as-built changes into controlled drawings Engineering Documentation & StandardsMaintain organized drawing files and revision historiesAssist in developing and updating engineering standards, templates, and title blocksEnsure drawings comply with internal drafting standards and document control practices Project & Field SupportSupport project engineers with drawing updates tied to installation progressSupport maintaining up-to-date status on the plant 2D CAD Layout and 3D BIM model.
Assist with document preparation for vendor coordination and field executionParticipate in site walk downs to understand how drawings translate to installed equipment Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with project engineers, controls, process, and facilities teamsCommunicate clearly when drawings require clarification or escalationSupport coordination between engineering, contractors, and equipment suppliers Required QualificationsEnrolled in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, drafting/design, or a related fieldBasic proficiency with AutoCAD and understanding of 3D modeling conceptsAbility to read and interpret technical drawingsStrong attention to detail and willingness to follow drafting standardsGood communication skills and ability to accept feedback and revisionsOrganized approach to file management and documentation What You’ll GainHands-on CAD experience in an active greenfield manufacturing projectExposure to industrial equipment layouts, utilities, and plant designUnderstanding of engineering change management and drawing controlExperience working alongside professional engineers in a manufacturing environmentDevelopment of technical drafting, documentation, and coordination skills Physical & Work Environment RequirementsAbility to sit or stand for extended periods and work at a computer workstationRegular use of hands for mouse, keyboard, and drafting tasksAbility to move throughout the office and manufacturing facility as neededOccasional time spent on the manufacturing floor during walkthroughsAbility to comply with all safety and PPE requirements when entering production areasWork performed in an office environment with moderate noise and routine interruptionsAbility to work standard business hours with flexibility during installation or commissioning phases
