Summary
The Production Intern assists the Production Department with production projects and continuous improvement initiatives. The position provides hands-on experience working closely with all areas of the Production department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Helps develop, improve and revise production processes to maximize capacity and efficiency.
Conduct feasibility studies to estimate product cost and analyze capital equipment, capacity, and capability requirements.
Assist to Identify root cause of mechanical and electrical failures on the production floor.
Implement process improvements to correct manufacturing inefficiencies and failures.
Assist with designing/developing tooling and fixtures to support production needs.
Assist in the control of processes for various operations (including safety and quality).
Make recommendations for new equipment and process changes.
Works on other projects assigned by Manager. Job Requirements
Graduate or currently enrolled in College or University Engineering program.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing. Greenbelt certification preferred.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
Interact well with all team members, hourly and exempts.
Highly organized and superior attention to detail.
Experience using Six Sigma and/or other problem-solving methodologies.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
Proficiency with SolidWorks preferred.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Excellent time and project management skills.
