Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is seeking an Electrical Grid Resilience Engineer to join the to join the Advanced Modeling and Simulation Group to develop, implement, and validate Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) models for grid systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution components.
Responsibilities
Conduct advanced dynamic and transient analysis of power and energy systems.
Perform Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Power Hardware-in-the-Loop (PHIL) testing on Distributed Real-Time Simulation (DRTS) platforms to validate control strategies and system behaviors.
Contribute to the design and optimization of control algorithms for grid stability, fault ride-through, and operational resilience.
Designing and implementing systems for power generation, transmission, and distribution, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Conducting reliability analysis and upgrading power system equipment to enhance efficiency and resilience.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize power system performance and response to sudden fluctuations.
Integrating renewable energy sources into existing power grids and ensuring sustainable practices.
Ensuring and maintaining through analyses the integrity of electrical systems and ensuring a reliable power supply for various applications. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in materials, mechanical, chemical engineering, or related field with 7-9 years of relevant experience
MS + 6-8 yrs; PhD + 5-7 yrs of relevant experience will also be considered.
