Electric Boat Navy Facility Engineering & Training Technologies (Department 701) is an innovative architectural/engineering group specializing in design, installation and maintenance for Naval Submarine Facilities and Trainers located at Naval Submarine Base New London.

Role Overview

We are currently seeking an Entry-Level Facility Draftsman to support the production of architectural drawings encompassing new construction, rehabilitation, institutional and infrastructure projects.

This is an early-career position intended for candidates with formal drafting education who are looking to apply and develop their REVIT skills in a professional engineering environment.

The successful candidate will work in a team environment to attain the proficiency to compose commercial construction documents pertaining to architectural, structural, fire protection, mechanical and electrical. The candidate will be required to work on various REVIT drafting assignments related to Naval Submarine facilities located in New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Virginia, Georgia, California, Washington, Hawaii, Guam, and Australia.

Key Responsibilities

Develop detailed 3D models and generate 2D construction documents (plans, elevations, sections) from concepts

Develop and manage custom REVIT content (families) for project elements in accordance with department drafting standards

Create and modify details/sections to implement engineer mark ups

Communicate with internal project engineers and project managers throughout the project life cycle

Required

High School diploma or GED

Associate degree in Drafting/Design (CAD/Revit) or a technical drafting certificate

Academic, internship, or early professional experience using Autodesk REVIT

0-3 years of experience producing REVIT models through coursework, internships, or early professional work

A portfolio showcasing work in any areas listed in this job description is required and should specifically highlight REVIT skills

Willingness and ability to travel to Naval Submarine Base locations as required

Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the DoD

Preferred

Academic, project, or early professional experience supporting commercial mechanical, structural, electrical and life safety systems

Experience reviewing and marking up drawings using Adobe Acrobat

Proficiency in Autodesk REVIT

Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Problem solving and multi-tasking skills

Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications

Meticulous attention to detail

Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications

Knowledge of commercial building systems and construction sequencing

Understanding of how to collect and document field measurements
