A growing, highly automated food manufacturing facility is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Manager near Sioux Falls, SD to lead plant maintenance and reliability efforts. This is a leadership role within a modern operation that has completed multiple recent expansions and continues to invest in new technology and automation.
Position Summary: The Maintenance Manager leads and develops a team of 6-7 maintenance technicians while working alongside them on the plant floor. This role is responsible for equipment reliability, preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position reports directly to the site's senior operations leader and plays a key role in maintaining production uptime and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop the maintenance team
Provide hands-on technical support across processing and packaging equipment
Manage and improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and controls issues
Support automation and continuous improvement projects
Ensure maintenance activities meet safety and compliance standards
Coordinate urgent repairs and minimize downtime
Partner with operations to improve equipment performance and reliability
Qualifications
Maintenance leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
Preferred experience in food processing, canning, or similar industries
Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
Experience with automation and controls systems preferred
Knowledge of PLCs, refrigeration, and ammonia systems is a plus
Demonstrated career stability and team leadership capability
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Work Schedule
Primarily weekday day-shift hours
Occasional nights or weekends may be required for urgent maintenance needs
