Position Overview

We are a top producer of wafer and cone products for the ice cream and food service industries with explosive growth in the process of breaking ground for a brand new state-of-the-art facility in Columbus, Ohio.

Key Responsibilities

Lead industrial engineering activities for new facility construction from design through startup and production launch, collaborating with architects, contractors, and equipment suppliers

Oversee equipment installation, commissioning, and startup activities while designing production workflows, material handling systems, and automation solutions optimized for wafer/cone manufacturing

Develop SOPs, establish quality control checkpoints, and conduct time studies and capacity analysis to maximize operational efficiency

Ensure all facility design and operations comply with food safety regulations including GMPs, HACCP, SQF, and FSMA requirements

Train operations and maintenance teams on new equipment and systems, partnering with Plant Manager to transition from startup to sustained production operations

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field

5+ years of experience in industrial engineering with at least one new facility construction or major expansion project

Hands-on experience with equipment installation, commissioning, and production startup in food manufacturing (baking industry experience with wafers, crackers, or baked goods strongly preferred)

Strong knowledge of facility infrastructure (utilities, HVAC, electrical systems, material handling), automation systems, PLCs, and MES

Working knowledge of food safety standards (SQF, HACCP, GMPs, FSMA)

Proficiency with CAD software, project management tools, and strong ability to manage multiple contractors and vendors simultaneously

Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification preferred
