Lead Systems Engineer for Cybersecurity and Simulation

Job Summary

As a Lead Systems Engineer in Battelle's Cyber business area, you will collaborate closely with solution architects and system designers to analyze customer needs and craft innovative solutions focused on modeling embedded system security and hardware design processes. This position involves a critical role in identifying vulnerabilities, breaking down complex systems, and contributing to the creation of resilient and secure architectures.

Responsibilities

Design and uphold requirements, architectures, and system designs for intricate technical systems, emphasizing modeling and simulation.

Adapt and refine existing system designs to meet new use cases and evolving requirements.

Develop and maintain model-based systems engineering (MBSE) artifacts across a broad portfolio of products.

Guide the enhancement of key system design components, ensuring alignment with customer expectations and security goals.

Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to define system functions, requirements, and design elements optimized for performance in constrained environments.

Break down complex systems into manageable components for detailed analysis and vulnerability assessment.

Support the entire project lifecycle, from initial planning and implementation through to operational readiness, with a strong focus on system security and resilience.

Key Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 10+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 7+ years of experience.

Extensive experience in modeling and simulating complex systems.

Proficient in vulnerability analysis and system breakdown techniques.

Demonstrated ability to facilitate technical discussions and convey intricate concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Experience in developing and maintaining requirements throughout the product lifecycle.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities combined with excellent teamwork skills.

Nice to Have

Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) practices.

Familiarity with SysML diagramming tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, IBM Rhapsody).

Knowledge of DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and/or Unified Architectural Framework (UAF).

Experience with embedded systems, microelectronics, FPGA, or circuit card design.

Programming knowledge in MATLAB, Python, C++, or similar object-oriented languages.

Experience supporting Department of Defense programs.

Possession of an active Top-Secret Clearance.
