CNC Lathe Machinist

Contract

Lafayette, IN

1st Shift

Compensation DOE: Up to $28/hr.

A CNC Lathe Machinist is available with one of our clients in Lafayette, IN. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up CNC Lathes, performing offsets, and running production parts while maintaining tight tolerances. This position is ideal for a machinist who can work independently with minimal supervision once trained.

CNC Lathe Machinist Key Responsibilities:

Perform CNC lathe setups, including tooling and offsets

Run production parts to print and quality standards

Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings

Measure and inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools

Maintain tight machining tolerances in a precision manufacturing environment

Work primarily with steel, with exposure to aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium

Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments as needed

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace

CNC Lathe Machinist Qualifications & Experience:

2+ years of CNC lathe experience running production parts

Ability to set up CNC lathes is strongly preferred

Experience performing tool offsets and adjustments

Knowledge of Mazak and/or Doosan Puma machines preferred

Comfortable working independently after training

Experience in a precision machine shop environment

CNC programming experience is a plus, but not required

AutoCAD experience is a plus, but not required

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Preferred (Nice to Have):

CNC lathe programming exposure

AutoCAD familiarity

Experience in both turning and milling environments

Previous work with tight-tolerance machining
