Job Title: Saw OperatorJob Description

The Saw Operator is tasked with the setup and operation of various metal cutting saws to accurately cut materials according to work orders. This role involves working independently or as part of a team, while adhering to all company policies and safety procedures.Responsibilities

Operate overhead and wall walker cranes using remote or pendant controls.

Secure appropriate rigging devices such as chains, straps, hooks, and magnets for lifting materials.

Transport materials using cranes or material handling equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks.

Perform safety inspections and complete applicable checklists.

Set up and operate saws to cut materials per specifications; observe multiple saws as needed.

Use hand tools to measure and verify material dimensions and quality.

Utilize computer systems for documentation, labeling, scanning, and printing.

Use grinders and sanders to remove burrs and rough edges.

Label and package products for shipping using appropriate materials and banding equipment.

Perform maintenance tasks such as changing saw blades, propane tanks, and sideloader batteries.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment including sweeping shavings and clearing debris.

Participate in safety, quality, and job training sessions.Essential Skills

Assembly and saw operation skills.

Experience with metal cutting and mechanical processes.

Ability to read and interpret work orders and blueprints.

Proficiency with measuring tools and basic math.

Strong attention to detail and safety practices.Additional Skills & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience operating metal cutting saws or similar equipment preferred.

Basic computer skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The work environment is a non-climate-controlled metal and steel provider warehouse. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including steel-toed metatarsal boots, safety vest/long sleeve safe guards, and a safety hard hat, which is provided. The environment is loud due to metal being transported or cut by band saws and new lathe machines. Although metal is not manufactured at the plant, a significant amount of cutting is performed prior to shipping to customers.Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
