High Performance Computing (HPC) Systems Engineer

PGS Worldwide is seeking a High Performance Computing (HPC) Systems Engineer at the Deer Creek Facility for a one year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This role supports production HPC infrastructure by administering Linux systems and associated networking, storage, monitoring, and compute environments across the full lifecycle (installation through retirement). You will work with HPC file systems, high-speed interconnects, schedulers, and Panasas/Vdura storage while documenting solutions and driving process improvements.

Required Skills

Minimum 3 years of hands-on Linux experience (e.g., RHEL, CentOS) supporting production infrastructure (networking, storage, monitoring, compute, installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrade, retirement)

System administration and technical support experience (installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrade, retirement, problem resolution)

Experience with HPC technologies including:

Parallel/distributed file systems (e.g., Lustre, GPFS)

High-speed interconnect fabrics (e.g., Infiniband, Omni-Path)

HPC batch scheduling suites (e.g., PBSPro, SLURM)

Experience with Panasas/Vdura storage support

Security+ certification (required)

Proficiency in technical writing and documentation of solutions

Demonstrated ability to work across organizational boundaries

Self-starter with ability to identify process improvement opportunities

Ability to build effective relationships with teams and subject matter experts Preferred Skills

Strong IT skills in infrastructure, applications, and system hardening

Experience implementing changes and security controls in a global framework

Experience installing/compiling vendor and open-source software

Experience with application/infrastructure deployment and support in major cloud environments

Scripting/automation experience (PowerShell, Ansible, Python, or similar)

Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7/8/9

RHCSA (plus) What You'll Do

Administer and support Linux-based HPC production infrastructure across the system lifecycle

Support networking, storage, monitoring, and compute environments including installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and retirement

Support HPC storage and data environments including Panasas/Vdura and distributed file systems (Lustre/GPFS)

Support high-speed interconnect fabrics and HPC batch scheduling environments (e.g., Infiniband/Omni-Path; PBSPro/SLURM)

Document solutions and technical processes with clear, usable technical writing

Collaborate across teams and organizational boundaries to resolve issues and deliver improvements

Identify and drive process improvements related to infrastructure support and operations
