Job Description
The Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating steel processing equipment, producing quality finished products, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This role supports production goals while upholding safety, quality, and customer service standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Mapes & Sprowl is seeking a 3rd Shift Machine Operator for our Elk Grove Village location. Steel experience is preferred but not required. Hours are 9pm-5am
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
•Operate machinery and feed steel coils into equipment
•Remove finished product and securely tie with wire
•Package materials onto pallets for annealing (as required)
•Remove scrap and maintain a clean, organized work area
•Follow all safety procedures and standards
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
•High School Diploma or GED required; manufacturing experience preferred.
•Machine operating experience or strong mechanical aptitude required.
•Steel industry experience and familiarity with common steel defects preferred.
•Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety.
•Positive attitude, reliability, and a solid work ethic are essential.
•Physical ability to regularly lift and move items up to 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
