The Senior Quality Engineer serves as a technical and systems steward for site quality processes and business systems. This role provides senior-level quality leadership without direct people management, partnering cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Sales, and Program Management to identify quality risks, investigate root causes, and implement sustainable solutions that improve product quality and business performance.
This position owns key quality systems, metrics, and improvement initiatives, acting as a subject-matter expert and trusted advisor across the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as the senior technical lead for Quality Engineering and Inspection activities, providing guidance, mentorship, and functional direction without direct supervisory responsibility
Partners cross-functionally to drive collaborative problem solving and improved customer outcomes
Supports and maintains the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards
Represents the Quality function for new product introduction (NPI) and program launches, ensuring customer and regulatory requirements are met
Develops, maintains, and updates Process FMEAs, Control Plans, inspection plans, and quality documentation
Ensures inspection equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and suitable for intended use
Uses structured methodologies and performance metrics to identify trends, risks, and continuous improvement opportunities
Owns and administers the CAPA system, driving timely root cause analysis, corrective actions, and effectiveness verification
Promotes and reinforces a root-cause, data-driven quality culture across the site
Verifies effectiveness of corrective actions through post-implementation monitoring and performance analysis
Works directly with customers and suppliers on quality audits, source inspections, corrective actions, and quality concerns
Ensures quality-related training requirements are identified, documented, and supported
Develops, implements, and maintains procedures, work instructions, and quality records in compliance with industry standards
Participates in Contract Review to support compliance with customer and regulatory requirements
Acts as a key technical interface with customers on quality-related matters
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field or minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Quality
Minimum 5 years of senior-level quality experience (technical leadership preferred; people management not required)
Strong working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001, and IPC requirements
Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment
Advanced experience with quality tools and methodologies, including:
FMEA, Fishbone, 5-Why, 8D
Value Stream Mapping, Process Flow
Statistical and analytical problem-solving tools
Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes through expertise, data, and collaboration rather than authority
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to travel up to 10%
