Position Description

We are currently seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our team. This position is responsible for the following types of work:

Hydrology and hydraulics modeling (e.g., SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-HMS, etc.)

Stormwater best management practice design

Preparing plan check comments on behalf of local municipalities on submitted Storm Water Quality Management Plans (SWQMP) and drainage studies

Evaluating applicability of FEMA floodplain management requirements and preparing submittals as applicable (e.g., CLOMR, LOMR, etc.)

Data analysis, map preparation, and design drawing preparation using programs such as AutoCAD and ArcGIS

Construction stormwater management, including preparing SWPPPs and overseeing inspection programs

Working with municipal agencies to identify applicable flood control and stormwater quality requirements, developing effective approaches to meet the requirements, and preparing associated technical reports

Remote Work Note:

Work may be done remotely most days. One day per week all staff, including this position, come into our office in San Diego week so that they can see and work with each other in person. Onsite meetings at clients’ offices in San Diego County may also be required up to a few times per week, although these do not occur every week. Because some work will need to be done onsite at our office or clients’ offices in San Diego County, candidates need to be located within or willing to relocate to San Diego County or nearby areas of adjacent Southern California counties to be hired for this job. Relocation assistance is available for candidates not currently living in the area.

Experience Requirements

At least 4 years of experience in water resources engineering, stormwater management, or a related field.

Recent hydrology/hydraulics, stormwater, or environmental consulting experience is a plus.

Concrete examples of professional accomplishments should be provided in the applicant’s application and resume.

Education and Certification Requirements

California civil engineering license (PE), or the ability to obtain one within 12 months.

Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related field.

Advanced degrees and additional professional certifications (including storm water-specific certifications, such as QSD/P, QISP, ToR, and CPSWQ) are pluses but are not required.
