QUALIFICATIONS:
Eligibility for a Paraprofessional license issued by the Georgia PSC
Ability to work with administrators, teachers, students, and parents
Aptitude for the successful completion of tasks assigned
Alternatives to the above qualifications, as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
JOB GOAL: The Paraprofessional supports certified teachers in meeting the instructional, educational, behavioral, physical, and social-emotional needs of students in the classroom (in-person) and community.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Basic knowledge of childhood growth and development.
Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching.
Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise children. Work in the classroom with the teacher to give instruction to students.
Collaborate with Academic Coach/Intervention Coordinator to provide students with assigned interventions.
Provides assistance to teachers with in-person instruction, classroom organization, management and instructional strategies.
Attends classroom sessions and redirects students who are off task and supports students who need remediation or intervention.
Works with small groups or individual students in-person to practice skills, read, and ensure each student benefits from the assignment or task.
Assists teachers with checking in on students that have not accessed classroom resources or completed assignments.
Communicates proactively with teachers to inform them of student issues and conversations with parents.
Assist the teacher in the preparation of supplies and materials needed to carry out lessons.
Work cooperatively with all school personnel to enhance the overall quality of the school.
Keep the teacher informed of all potential problems noted regarding instruction and discipline.
Channel all school business through the school office.
Maintain confidentiality.
Maintain license.
Engage in activities that promote professional growth.
Prompt and in person attendance
Perform other duties as needed and assigned by the Principal or designee.
