About the Role

We are looking for a Web Development Specialist to support our federal government client. This role is essential for the design, development, enhancement, maintenance, and optimization of the CDC's internal and external digital properties. You will collaborate closely with staff and stakeholders from various CDC divisions to deliver secure, accessible, high-performing, and standards-compliant web solutions crucial for public health communication and data dissemination.

This position is fully remote, with occasional on-site work required at the client's location in Atlanta, GA, depending on client needs.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance internet and intranet properties, including websites, web portals, web applications, mobile sites, and digital channels.

Maintain web content management systems and web analytics services, ensuring robust user interfaces and data visualizations.

Create and update websites using approved CDC WordPress templates and frameworks.

Configure website components according to CDC policies and best practices.

Provide technical support for public health projects, focusing on data and program materials development.

Develop secure IT solutions, including web applications, electronic surveys, and APIs.

Conduct quality assurance testing to ensure functionality, usability, security, and compliance before CDC review.

Analyze web metrics to improve SEO and site performance.

Resolve operational issues across web and social media platforms.

Ensure compliance with Section 508 accessibility requirements and web design principles.

Remediate non-compliant issues and optimize digital assets using tools like Adobe Creative Suite.

Adhere to CDC IT security policies, protecting sensitive data.

Collaborate with information security officers on secure system design.

Provide technical recommendations to senior managers and program owners concerning digital technologies.

Migrate legacy content to new platforms and support template modernization.

Maintain HTML and WordPress-based resources to align with federal guidelines.

Participate in CDC workgroups and meetings on web and technology initiatives.

Requirements

To be considered, candidates must possess:

A minimum of 2 years of professional web development experience with federal agencies.

Proficiency in HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and responsive design frameworks.

Experience with web accessibility, SEO, analytics, and cross-browser testing.

Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Strong experience in WordPress site building.

Experience with quality assurance/testing workflows.

Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat for PDF remediation.

Understanding of secure web development practices.

Familiarity with CDC policies and security requirements.

Ability to pass required federal background checks and maintain government clearance.

Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Education and Training

Bachelor's degree in Web Development, Graphic Design, Communications, or a related field.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged sitting at a desk and computer usage; may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
