The Entry-Level Loss Mitigation Underwriter will play a crucial role in assessing Loan Modification applications according to Treasury, Company, and Investor guidelines while adhering to our company's policies and procedures. Under general supervision, you will make sound underwriting decisions that comply with legal and policy requirements. This entry-level position typically handles less complex underwriting files as you gain valuable knowledge and experience with more intricate cases. The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00 per hour.
Your Responsibilities:
Conduct a thorough analysis to ensure each loan meets quality standards and complies with Treasury, Company, and Investor guidelines.
Perform Verification of Income (VOI).
Calculate customers' front and back-end debt-to-income ratios.
Verify occupancy, hardship, and income details.
Apply the payment waterfall to determine workout eligibility (options include repayment plans, forbearance, modification, or liquidation).
Identify any liquid assets the borrower may hold, if necessary.
Communicate required conditions to properly document the file (such as reason for default letters, updated pay stubs, bankruptcy papers, etc.).
Complete system tasks to ensure compliance with Treasury, Company, and Investor guidelines.
Document final decisions and update system records accordingly.
What You Need:
A high school diploma or equivalent.
1 to 2 years of experience in underwriting or servicing/loss mitigation.
