As a Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) Systems Engineer, you will provide vital technical support to the U.S. Navy Surface Ship Fleet. You will be part of a dedicated team that collaborates closely with the Navy's Technical Community and other Serco Subject Matter Experts, ensuring high-quality readiness support for our sailors.
This professional team has established a reputation within the Navy’s Technical Community as the go-to group for exceptional technical assessments regarding real-time Fleet issues. Your contributions will be recognized and will significantly impact the support of the U.S. Navy. Your responsibilities will include oversight of life cycle analysis, maintenance, and resolution of high visibility issues. You will interface with a variety of personnel across the Surface Warfare Enterprise, including NAVSEA, Naval Surface Warfare Centers, Type Commanders, Fleet, Regional Maintenance Centers, SURFMEPP, Planning Yards, and other Naval Field Activities, to support modernization efforts and handle emergent tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Review Ship Change Documents and make recommendations for adjudicating ship alterations.
Perform technical engineering analysis and create installation drawings, including reviews of standard installation procedures.
Provide oral and written recommendations regarding the Navy Data Environment and Entitled Process.
Conduct technical support reviews, impact analyses for shipboard systems, and manage operations, maintenance, and repairs on surface ships.
Draft Naval Fleet Advisory messages to outline administrative objectives, policies, and procedures in response to equipment and machinery failures and safety concerns.
Compose Naval Advisory Messages using the Naval CMP message writing program.
Maintain the Electronic Advisory Record Repository and Tracking System (eARRTS) for all surface ships.
Track Departures from Specifications (DFS) through eDFS in eFORMS.
Create PowerPoint presentations and Excel spreadsheets to track progress and gather data for various hull, mechanical, and electrical systems.
Collaborate with stakeholders to address technical, logistics, and Fleet-wide issues and ensure resolution.
Extract operational data and perform research and analysis to provide insights to stakeholders.
Employ critical thinking skills to break down complex problems and work with stakeholders to find solutions.
Attend meetings, drafting meeting minutes and reports.
Engage in working groups, forums, and analytical activities as required for contract compliance.
Qualifications:
Must hold an active DoD secret security clearance.
A Bachelor’s degree is required.
5+ years of relevant work experience is necessary, with educational adjustments considered for candidates with over 10 years of specialized knowledge or unique prior Naval Surface Warfare experience.
Keen understanding of U.S. Navy configuration management principles, processes, and activities.
Experience as a Work Center Supervisor onboard U.S. Naval Amphibious ships is essential.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Willingness to travel 10% of the time.
