PURPOSE
Position using my knowledge, skills, abilities, and other professional traits that I gained during eleven years in the U.S. Navy serving two combat tours onboard ship and two tours on the ground in Bahrain and Iraq.

Following my return from deployment in Iraq, I returned to be the department head of a department charged with anti-terrorism inspection of commercial vehicles. Responsibilities included checking identification of all personnel in commercial vehicles entering Naval Station Mayport to insure the safety of base personnel and military equipment. Typical contraband confiscated and turned over to civilian authorities included unregistered weapons, ammunition, illegal drugs, and other contraband explicitly prohibited by naval regulation. Typical persons detained included illegal aliens, wanted criminals, or those in possession of illegal contraband. As department head, it was my responsibility to train and supervise my security team comprised of up to eight members, to coordinate activities with other base security departments, and to coordinate with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

Assigned as a team leader to a newly re-formed joint-service security unit comprised of Navy and Army personnel. We were trained in anti-terrorism security techniques in preparation for ground duty in Iraq. This unit was subsequently deployed and provided security for two prisons housing up to 17,000 insurgents and criminals. As team leader, I was responsible for training and supervising a team of up to eight naval personnel.

Anti-terrorism Team Leader, Bahrain. As team leader, I trained and supervised an anti-terrorism security team that provided base security for a Navy installation in Manama, Bahrain. This duty included coordinating security with local law enforcement and working with a unit of Gurkhas. We provided security for the base, a civilian school adjacent to the base, and 4-5 other posts in Bahrain.

DDG 71 USS Ross, Guided Missile Destroyer, serving as a Sonar Technician and team leader. I monitored active sonar on both training and warfare missions. I was also part of the team trained on a prototypical battle display used in the Command Information Center of the ship. While assigned to the Ross, I had the following responsibilities and participated in the operations indicated:
• Served as Classified Materials Custodian for the ship. In charge of signing in/out and inventorying all classified materials used on board ship and enforcing Navy Regulations pertaining to these highly sensitive materials.
• Served on cruises supporting U.N. forces in Kosovo and awarded three campaign medals.
• Operation Enduring Freedom in support of forces in Afghanistan. Served as team leader for team trained to provide security support for teams boarding ships suspected of smuggling contraband to the Taliban, Al Qaeda, and insurgents. 11/1998-4/2003
