 I observed open-heart surgery, gall bladder removal surgery, and did rounds with surgeons. Gained knowledge of various medical terms and procedures.

Summer 2005 University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, MARC and RETO Programs Summer Workshops. Genetic Engineering Technology Applied in Molecular Microbiology

 Isolated genomic DNA from bioluminescent bacteria

 Performed Polymerase Chain Reactions (PCR) on extracted DNA

 Cloned PCR fragments using the TOPO-TA system

 Worked with plasmids, restriction enzymes, and RFLP

 Prepared gels and electrophoresis from PCR
