Title: Technical Helpdesk May 2012-May 2012

Responsibilities consist of providing technical assistance to Students, Facility and Staff via phone or web-chat. Duties also include listening, diagnose and resolving basic hardware and software issues by following standard help desk procedures to complete the task. I logged all help desk interactions, administer help desk software, identify and escalate situation requiring urgent attention to Tier II assistance. Follow-up with customer after their issue is resolved via email once the activity report is done which generates a ticket number for the company database and customer records.

Responsibilities consist of performing all types of cable construction and maintenance work including customer location reconcentrations up to and including cross-connection to Central Office/pair gain units associated equipment. Responsibilities consist of setting up safety equipment in work area to clearly mark utility routes and interpreting locates requests and streets maps. The types of locator I used to perform my job were Metro-Tec, 3M and Radio Detector 4000 series. I had to interact with excavator to determine excavation requirements. Duties also included providing a positive response to requester/owner to locate and interpreting Verizon and other utility provided maps and records. If any damages I had to assist with investigation of/to facilities where locate requests were involved. Follow-up with supervisor to report troubles and turn in manifest for the week.

Responsibilities consist of reading blue prints to identify where every Voice, Data & Fiber cables goes from the telephone closets to the workstations. Once the cables are identified and dropped at the workstations we had to terminate every Cat 5e, Cat 6 & Fibers on both ends. Responsible for building racks, installing and placing panels inside the racks. We had to dress and place each Fiber connector and punch down Cat 5e & Cat 6 cables in their assigned location. Duties also included testing every Cat 5e, Cat 6 & Fibers using a Fluke Test Set and OTDR. Follow-up with supervisor if a problem occurs or when the task is complete to turn in all data.

Title: System Test & Turn-up Technician September 2000-July 2002 & April 2003-December 2003

Responsibilities consist of Turning-up Corvis Line Amplifier Systems and Optical Switches. Duties also include Testing and Troubleshooting of Corvis Line Amplifiers should any problems occur. I also had to report problems to CTAC, Engineering and Project Manager. After every Link Calibration is done I was responsible for assistance in provisioning the all Optical Switch, Provisioning Channels, BER Testing measuring of OC 192 & 48 with a Digital Lightwave Test Set, OSNR Measurements, Gain Flattening and Link Acceptance Test with an Engineer. Follow-up with project managers and engineering when the task is completed. Make sure they receive all data (Calibration Flies, Data Spreadsheets and Shelf Inventory). I also replaced any defective or failed module with the ISX Tool without interrupting traffic that’s on the network.
