Accomplishments
SIGMA XI FULL MEMBERSHIP, Organic and Medicinal Chemistry divisions. American Chemical Society, Organic and Medicinal Chemistry divisions.
Synthesized and evaluated new selective ERK inhibitors for the treatment of Cancer.
Designed and synthesized hundreds of analogs of an orally-active, small molecule which regulates the activity of ERK enzyme, which plays a critical role in the differentiation and proliferation of tumer cells.
Employed with Schering Plough as an Assistant Scientist , a prestigious post which seeks to protect public health.
Worked in Schering Plough's Oncology Department and contributed to efforts to bring promising new drugs and diagnostic products to market.
Authored two patents pertaining to new anti-cancer drugs to treat a wide variety of cancers including lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, colon cancer, leukemia, thyroid cancer, brain cancer, skin cancer.
Conducted research involving the investigation of conjugate addition reactions of unsaturated nitriles.
Conjugate additions to alkenenitriles are notoriously difficult because the powerful electron withdrawal of the nitrile group polarizes the *-carbon more than the *-carbon.
Solved this long-standing challenge in organic chemistry by inventing a new reagent called silica-supported Zinc-Copper matrix.
Developed a new strategy for conjugate addition in aqueous that benefits the chemical and pharmaceutical industry worldwide by improving the efficiency of use of expensive materials, lowering the cost of chemical processes and minimizing waste disposals.
Authored five (5) peer reviewed publications in internationally recognized scientific journals.
Selected from research group of Prof.
Fraser Fleming for collaboration in Germany in the field of Organo metallic Chemistry.
Developed a novel strategy for Iodine- Magnesium exchange which provides facile access for building blocks routinely used in pharmaceutical industry.
