University of Vermont - Burlington, VT Anticipated Graduation May 2012

B.S. Mechanical Engineering, Minor in Mathematics

Recipient of the UVM Presidential Scholarship

ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE

Internship - American Society for Engineering Education; Carderock, MD Summer 2011

Devised a concept ship, the Light Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Carrier with Anti Submarine Warfare Capabilities (LUCA). Collaborated

with employees and interns towards the collective goal of designing LUCA with the capabilities to launch, recover, maintain and house UAVs.

Performed trade studies for LUCA. Presented final concept design and produced a final report (pending approval for public release).

Internship - Naval Surface Warfare Center; Carderock, MD Summer 2010

Developed a natural gas powered alternative for short sea shipping based on an existing American Marine Highways Program (AMHP) design.

Designed a Rhinoceros model of the concept ship and analyzed existing emission reduction systems to enhance the efficiency of the ship and its

use of cargo and machinery space. Produced and presented a final report of the project’s accomplishments.

Senior Design Project - Green Mountain Coffee Roasters; Burlington, VT 2011-Present

Designed and produced a tumbler that independently performs the following tasks: mix, recirculate, and cool/heat a beverage. Acquired first

hand experience conducting initial research, brainstorming, concept rendering, and analyzing and performing trade studies, to develop, test and

refine a prototype. Design will be patented, produced and marketed.

Grader – The University of Vermont; Burlington, VT 2012-Present

Graded homework assignments for the manufacturing engineering course (ME 162) at The University of Vermont.

Relevant Coursework

Thermodynamics Explored properties and principles of liquids and gases and their reactions in different mechanical systems.

Dynamics Enhanced mathematical problem solving skills by devising equations of motion under various dynamic scenarios; coded

in MATLAB to calculate, graph and analyze the equations.

Material Science Analyzed the structures, characteristics and processes of various materials (metals, polymers, ceramics, composites);

researched and performed trade studies to determine uses for materials in specific industries, in order to determine ideal

material for theoretical projects.

Manufacturing Developed an understanding of the practical applications and executions of manufacturing processes.

Fluid Mechanics Derived and applied fundamental equations and constants for fluid flow.

Bioengineering Modeled and analyzed the internal components of the human body; researched existing solutions to problems faced by

the biomedical industry.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE

Research Assistant (Internship) - U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum; Washington D.C. Summer 2009

Mapped the topographic and experiential data depicting the route of the evacuations of Auschwitz Concentration Camp and its auxiliary camps

(January 1945). Investigated, researched and translated primary source documents to establish the route.

Ski Coach - Whitetail Ski Education Foundation; Mercersburg, PA Winter 2009 - 2010

Managed and coached groups of 5-15 junior ski team racers at Whitetail Mountain Resort.

Plant Merchandiser - ICS Corporation; Williston, VT Fall 2010

Organized and stocked the plant and nursery department at a Home Depot store.
