As an intern at the PLC NIA Foster Care program, the main focus is to obtain experience with an agency that work with adolescents within mental health system. One task is to organize files and data entry. While viewing files, particular focus is on what the clients’ symptoms and diagnoses are as well as what the treatment plans were used and how the clinicians plan to reach their goals. A considerable amount of time is spent shadowing the clinicians on home visits and working directly with the youth in problem solving and behavior modification.
Bowie State U. ATOD Bowie, MD Office Assistant, Nov 06 to May 08
Worked as an office assistant in the Drug Prevention and STD awareness center. Assisted the director in a variety of task (e.g., taking messages, assisting clients, assisting with survey counts, made copies, sent faxes, etc.) As the assistant, I often had to run the office when our advisor was away. I was asked and available to take care of any need to help the office run smoothly by searching the web for needed items and running office related errands.
