Prepress Macintosh Operator/Prep Team Coordinator

Process and inspect customer’s files making them ready for print.

Work with various software Quark Express (4,5 6), Adobe Illustrator(8,9,CS), Acrobat, Distiller, InDesign, Insight, Excel, Microsoft works, Internet Explorer, Safari,and many more Macintosh and PC applications including file transfer applications, VIO, Wamnet, FTP.

Install new software and perform upgrades on equipment including 7 Macintosh workstations and 4 to 6 PC work stations. Insure connections to network server and storage RAIDS through IP addresses. Also maintained connections between Macintosh and PC work stations to facilitate file transfers between those work stations.

Communicate problems with files to customer service, sales and other in house management people through direct contact or e-mails.

Produce DCS files from analog films using Eskofot scanner. Cleaned DCS files using Artwork Systems Perfection software.

Maintain RIP software and write workflows as needed in Nexus Manager software.

Manage files on RAIDs daily.

Archive files after processing and inspecting for quality standards as outlined by SOP’s.

Produce color proofs using Creo Spectrum and Dupont proofer.

Produce layouts for sheet fed 29" to 40" Heidelberg Speedmaster perfectors.

Image plates on Creo and Kodak Screen imaging units.

Manage the prepress workflow and 11 computer operators across three shifts. Conduct yearly reviews. Write and maintain SOP's. Work with QA and plant manufacturing supervisors to ensure the quality of print jobs.

Order supplies and maintain equipment including calibrations as needed.

Work with data base soft wares SAP and Oracle in PC format.

4 Color Stripper/Plate maker

4 color process film stripping for medium size commercial printer.

Produced line shots and halftones using a flat bed camera.

something to be learned. I type a mean e-mail to explain electronic printing issues to other people. I know how difficult it can be for every day people to understand printing language. Have worked in different areas of the bindery when needed loading product onto the stitcher, packing product, gluing, etc. Enjoy working with designers, customer service, sales and all manufacturing personnel.
