I am a Piscean, born and brought up in Delhi. I am 43 years of age and have completed my graduation (B.Com. Hons.) from Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University. I have also completed my Intermediate in the Chartered Accountancy. I have a work experience of around 17 years in the field of accounts & finance, with a continuous exposure to audit (Statutory & Internal). A sincere & committed worker, I seek constant improvement in life (both work and personal). WORK EXPERIENCE
February 2002 Till Date - International Labour Organisation
Working with M/s International Labour Organization (ILO), at its sub-regional office in New Delhi as a “Finance Officer”. ILO is affiliated to the United Nations and focuses on addressing and eradicating the “Social and Economic Reforms” in the developing countries. It functions in close co-ordination with the Ministry Of Labour, both at the central and state level/s. Its “Activities and Programmes” are funded by the contributions from member nations ( currently approaching 200 ) who pool and allocate their resources in order to address various issues. The job profile includes:
Job Profile :
• Analysis Of Project Expenses (Variance Analysis; Graphic Presentations/Comparisons, Estimates, Forecasts etc. );
• Authorising the Financial Clearance/s for the various Projects & Contracts;
• Audit of the Action Programmes/Field Activities being implemented within India with the financial and technical aid of ILO ( eg: Child Labour Elimination Programmes – with individual funding in some cases up to USD 400,000.00);
• Focal Point for the Auditors (external and internal) for the New Delhi office (including its project offices outside);
• Have visited the Kabul Office, in Afghanistan, in order to -- Fill in the temporary recruitments gaps, assess test/answer papers, conduct interviews for new recruits, provide training to the newly recruited staff;
• Have been, on multiple occasions, a part of the interview panel for “Office Recruitments”. The highlighting factor was a selection process wherein I was a part of the panel for a recruitment process wherein the selection was at a grade higher than mine;
• Have prepared examination papers for office recruitments (including for a level higher than mine);
• Have been involved, on multiple occasions, in the selection of vendors for providing office services (travel agent, maintenance & up-keep of office equipments, courier services, etc).
• Have provided trainings to the new joinees and have conducted workshops/sessions for the New Delhi officials with a focus on financial and accounting system in operation in our office;
• Have acted – on multiple occasions - as Officer In Charge of the unit;
• Liaisoning with the South Asia’s Regional Office on Financial & Administrative issues;
• Liaisoning with the bank for foreign currency clearances and other official matters;

• Have represented the office in various Finance Workshop/s held in the Regional Office ;
• In recognition of my communication and mediatory skills I have been recommended for an appointment to the post of a “Facilitator” for the sub-region (comprising of India, Nepal, Sri-Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran ) by the relevant office of the ILO headquarters in Geneva.
September 1997- January 2002 - American Express India Ltd. ( 4.5 Years )
Worked with M/s American Express (India) (P) Ltd, FC E, as a Team Member. FC E is one of the three divisions in the world catering to the accounting of Amex operations across the globe. A fully computerised set-up, with strict performance level agreements between the globe and FC E, to be followed religiously. The principal job profile involved processing of vendor invoices and settlement of their outstanding for a particular overseas Customer. The work profile, in addition to this main job, included generation of various MIS reports – both for the customers or FC E itself - with reference to the clients and regions serviced. The MIS forms an integral part of the month end accounting. The job profile, in detail, is presented below :
Job Profile :
• Training – Preparing the training template for the whole team, based on the analysis of the training needs, and planning the training schedule. Providing on the job training for the new recruitments and being responsible for the progress against the training schedule.
• Customer Support – Had been a one-point contact for the overseas customers. Work included handling all customer queries and liaison work on phone and through emails
• Accounting - Verification & processing of Vendor & Staff payments – Invoices & TEVs. Monitoring of accounts with respect to aging and classification. Booking of expenses and making journal entries
• Administrative – Responsible for all arrangements of staff conveyance, maintaining the leave plans for the whole team, arranging for all off site trainings and team dinners, managing the stationery requirements for the whole team, preparation of MIS reports for the entire team
• Projects - Have undertaken projects and conducted their User’s Acceptance Tests for a more controlled and improved work environment. Projects like Card Settlement by File Transfer from Internet and Standardisation of Reports have led to a more efficient and effective job execution and have resulted in cost savings to the company.
• Audits - Conducting Internal Audits for the work areas outside our team.
As a result of my performances, I was awarded and recognized by the Leadership by way of Commemorative Letters and monetary rewards on more than one occasion. I was also rated above average ( I got a rating of 2 on a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 is the highest and 5 is the lowest ) continuously for the past two years.
The high point during my tenure in American Express was my selection for Migrations from Hong Kong during October, 2001. It was an URGENT migration given the fact that the person in charge of the operations had to leave in less than two weeks time and the entire set-up had to be imported into India before that. An indicator of my successful migration was that I was awarded a rating of 4++, by the customers, on a scale of 1 to 5 ( 1 is the lowest and 5 is the highest ) .
August 1995-September 1997 – Birla Horizons International Ltd. ( 2.2 Years )
Worked with Birla Horizons International Ltd, as an Accounts officer. The company is engaged in carrying out turnkey Software projects in India and abroad.
Job Profile:
The job involved looking and verifying day to day accounting transactions, checklisting, bank reconciliation, MIS generation, liaisoning with auditors and internal audit of specified areas – payroll, purchase etc.
June 1994 – August 1995 – DLF ( 1.2 Years )
Worked with DLF as a Senior accountant. The job responsibilities were to carry out data entry, preparation of final accounts, liaisoning with the auditors and other day to day accounting functions.
