2006-2011 LELAND ORGANICS CORPORATION
Plant Manager / Venture Manager- Responsibility was to design, construct, staff and startup a 25 MGPY bio-diesel facility. Project was fast tracked to construction completion within 12 months. Directed the construction effort using a fixed bid system completing the project 12% under forecast. Staffed the facility two months before completion, developed operating instructions and started the facility within two months. Plant operated well but ceased operation due to lack of affordable feedstock and expiration of government subsidy.
2005 –2006 CYANCO- Winnemucca, Nevada
Plant Manager-Responsibilities include insuring the safe operation of the Plant and meeting or exceeding all environmental policies and regulations, controlling manufacturing costs within budget, and coordinating the operation of the Plant with other functional groups, such as EHS, Quality, Maintenance, Sales, Engineering, Financial and Human Resources.
Responsible for managing the operations, including production, maintenance, scheduling, quality performance, inventory control, variable and fixed cost control, environmental compliance, employee relations and capital project management/coordination. 1997-2005 - C.T. SPECIALTIES CORPORATION - Wilmington, NC
VP Operations - Operations, Engineering and Maintenance: Directed the effort to grow the business via new customer introduction in a contract manufacturing facility. Responsibilities covered all aspects of starting up new customers. These ranged from regulatory compliance to facilities design and construction to operating procedures and personnel training. The majority of the effort and the success were centered on a quick project implementation. Supervised the detail design by engineering firms, selected and oversaw various contractors, and directed the startup efforts. The construction included electrical, mechanical, and civil contractors. I was also responsible for the maintenance and capital spending programs.
1989-1997 TAKEDA CHEMICAL PRODUCTS USA - Wilmington, NC
1989-1994 - Production Manager: Directed and led all operational aspects of a Vitamin C and Vitamin VB1 bulk pharmaceutical facility. Conducted operational budgeting, forecasting, cost control, FDA compliance, safety management, and Process Safety Management. The plant facility included the production facility, a wastewater treatment center, a plant utilities service center, and a wastewater thermal destruction unit.
Managed one hundred (100 ) operators and technicians, supervisors and engineers.
1994-1997 - - Assistant Plant Manager Engineering and Maintenance: Directed and managed the Engineering and Maintenance functions in support of a bulk Pharmaceuticals facility. Implemented annual capital expenditures are approximately $8 million and the annual maintenance budget of $6 million per year. In 1990, directed a $30 million project that covered the entire operations from new processing equipment to new utilities such as boilers, cooling towers to new waste treatment facilities. Led the maintenance and project staff of nine (9) professionals and five (5) technicians supplemented by a contract maintenance force of thirty-three. Developed and supervised the budgeting, forecasting, cost control, FDA, GMP, and Process Safety Management efforts. Reduced maintenance costs by 20% while simultaneously raising the on stream factor of the plant. The methodology used has been an integrated approach encompassing Total Quality Management (using 3M procedures), Total Productive Maintenance, and reliability engineering and analysis.
1974-1989 FMC CORPORATION - Agricultural Chemicals Group - Baltimore, MD
Area Superintendent: Managed and directed the operation of a multi product agricultural chemical plant. Areas of responsibility included operational control, cost control, cost reduction activities, union relations, financial analysis, forecasting, strategies planning, and the startup two new product facilities. Total direct reports were eighty-eight hourly operators and thirty-two salaried; sixteen of which were engineering professionals. Major accomplishments were the concurrent successful startups of two major facilities while achieving a bottom line result $3.5 million better than target using a participative management philosophy. Also served as the Startup Manager for another facility involving fifty personnel and $55 million in capital expenditures.
