Professional Summary:
- Develop new products (plastic, sheet metal and machining) following engineering principles, regulatory requirements, standards and customer requirements in both automotive (Chrysler, Ford and Honda) and aircraft (Boeing and Airbus)
- 8 years work hand on plastic component and assembly (injection mold, insert mold and blow mold), deep knowledge of plastic tooling, welding and manufacture. Co-working with tooling shop, quality and cost control (PPM) with factory
- Start program from layout study, proposals with the customer request, product functions and standards
- Develop parts/assembly following engineering principles, loading, weight control, optimum, tooling and cost control
- Co-work with CAE, prototyping, test and tooling; revise designs based on feedback from design team and customer (engineering change note/DFEMA), and quality control, feasibility studies, integration plans, tolerance stack-up (liner/static) and clash investigation to assure the manufacturability of designs.
- Hand on Part simulation by Catia V5 FEA (finite element analysis) tool for stress and deformation
- BOM and 2D drawings (ANSI/ISO), GD&T application (ASME/ANSI), revise the drawings and production release with documents.
- Presents on program review and documentation of inputs, ideas and question from internal and customer, Represents the Company to customers or suppliers on technical matters of the assigned project.
- Creative and self-starter, open mind and quicker leaner, challenger and flexible, hard worker with good time control, team player and contributor
- Project management, quality and cost control, prototyping and test, interface with customer and guide supplier, complete job in timing.
- 10+ years hand on Catia V5/V4 (10,000 hr V5), 3 years Ideas, modeling part and assembly with GSD (surface) and solid function. Design in context, KBE/Template and 2D drawings. Translating data between 2 or more CAD systems, transfer data to OEM/supplier/tool shop
- 10 + years works at OEM’S and suppliers. Develop new product on each phase from initial to production release.
Work Experience
April, 2008 - Feb, 2009, (contract) Heath Tecna, Bellingham, WA (please see next page)
A. Design entertainment system of lounge for AirbusA380 and A330;
LCD Monitor orientation control system, protection system and wiring package.
B. Release overhead Bins and closets, primary lighting assembly for 767 and 747
Sept, 2007 - April, 2008, (contract) Valeo switch North America, Troy, MI
Vehicle security (Keyless entry) system for Honda and Toyota
Vehicle ultrasonic parking system for Ford
Integrate electronics (PCB and antenna) into mechanical systems. Package the new product to fit into vehicle for update specifications.
Design plastic assembly and mounting features (sheet metal and rubber). All injection model parts - housing, cover, mounting try, PCB hold panel, battery hold panel, assembly feature, welding feature and silicon seal with very critical dimension and tolerance control. All 3D models and 2D drawings released by catia V5
Aug, 2006 to Aug, 2007, (contract) Honda R&D Center, Raymond, Ohio
Develop new Sky-roof system (full covered by glasses) for Acura CUV
Interior design; Door lining, pillar, Carpet and ceiling for Pilot
Move the interior design from concept surface model to solid model for tooling release, add all drafting angles with parting lines, concern the lifter tool for some feature with undercut, modify the thickness of stiffing ribs, limited the max deformation of large surface and completed the release design (3D with 2D drawings) for tooling. Develop Skyroof from concept “A” surfaces (scan data from the studio) to a complete solid assembly with sheet metal, plastic rails, cover glass and moving window, motors and mechanism.
Development of VCT (variable cam timing control system of engine) by Catia V5
Develop VCT for Chrysler (Mercedes) V6 engine, integrated electronic-hydraulic-Mechanical system, package and fit VCT into the front covers of engine. Design gears, hydraulic components and assembly (actuator controlled by solenoid). Package sensor and design the rotation features. For improve the leaking of hydraulic system, reapply GD&T with the study of tolerance stack-up. 3D models and 2D drawings were released (tooling) by catia V5.
June, 2000 to Sept, 2005, Visteon Inc, Dearborn, MI
Design engine air induction system (EIS) for Ford and Chrysler;
Work with customer to package and layout of under hood, Design EIS assembly; include plastic components and assembly (air cleaner and manifold), plastic ducts and rubber hose, sheet metal brkts. Hand on each phases from initial proposal to production release. Interface with customer and work with tooling shop (both injection and blow mold). Quality and cost control (PPM) with factory
May, 1998 to May, 2000, Siemens Auto, Tilbury, On, Canada
