Also AB 5000 systems, SLC500, Mitsubishi, Omron, Beckoff PLCs. WinCC, WinCC Flex. Creation of equipment and plant specifications, trouble-shooting of all technologies at either the Tucson plant or the Berlin plant. Creation of schematics for new designs or existing equipment. Work on all types of equipment which includes conveyance, lamination, CIGS, Moly, TCO, stringers, flash testers, IV curve testers, wrap winders, and vacuum systems.
Flow Serve, Cookeville, Tennessee, March/2009 – Present
Sr. Electrical Engineer / Product Engineer
Working on new product development for our primary markets using DeviceNet, Profibus, Hart, AS-I, and Foundation Fieldbus protocols. Working with ORCAD ver 16.3 for design review of all power supply converters, peripherals, processor pcbs and Peltier thermal systems. Supporting electrical and electronic product issues for all products produced. Working on correcting all databases and agency approvals for current products such as (UL, ATEX, CSA, FM, CIL, etc). In constant communication with semi-conductor manufacturers to resolve ongoing issues. Supporting manufacturing, production, and products locally and globally. Used as resource for verifying our technology for harsh, military, and nuclear service.
General Plasma, Tucson, Arizona, May/2008 - March/2009
Sr. Controls Engineer
Worked on multiple projects at any one time. Created and corrected electrical prints for existing and new equipment. Trouble-shot and repaired plasma control sources and vacuum systems for solar applications. Created documentation for electrical, safety standards and plc code, ensuring structure and compliance to CE standards. Updated custom controls for thin film deposition systems, using high power rotatable and planner magnetrons used to create CIGS and
Amorphous type solar cells. These systems were based on Siemens S7 and WinCC, Allen Bradley, or Opto22
software. These systems were installed in North American and Europe. Diagnosed and repaired custom power supplies down to PCB component level. Created reports and test procedures for custom systems. Taught Co-op students the fundamentals of control systems.
Nemak (Ford), Windsor, Canada June/2001 – May/2008
Electrical Engineer
Created projects based on increased productivity requirements, improved safety and reduced costs due to aging equipment. Designed equipment and/or managed other companies that would design these systems for us. Ensure that standards such as OSHA, Robotic machine, ESA, and Electrical codes are adhered to.
Trouble-shooting and data acquisition including the training of electricians on specific devices. Verify and correct electrical drawings and programming ensuring
These modifications were complete with full documentation. Lead and motivate others so as to see my vision as theirs. Optimized PLC code so as to reduce down time, with increased feedback to the operator and self-diagnostics for quicker isolation of any problem. Take part in RISK assessments, PSRs ensuring compliance to safety regulations. Developed specifications for OEMs when having equipment designed. Active partner when developing FEMA's, Best Practices, and Single point lesson data sheets. Actively used Lean-manufacturing methodologies when involved in process modifications. Worked on low voltage to high voltage systems (24VDC to 480VAC).
CIS Robotics, Windsor, Canada Sept/1999 – June/2001
Electrical Controls Design Engineer
C.I.S. Robotics is an internationally based robotics and control systems integrator, incorporating ABB, Motoman, Kawasaki, and Fanuc robots.
Participated in the electrical engineering designs of specialized control systems or to manage, engineer, and design complete systems from conception to final testing and installation. As well as all aspects of panel building, power management, repeatability, part standardization/allocation, and safety.
Some of these projects include the integration of S5 PLC’s, S7 PLC’s, HMI Siemens industrial controllers and HMIs. These projects would include 100-watt YAG laser systems, specialized TIG welding applications, and mobile sand delivery systems.
Repaired and worked on the redesign of mobile bomb robots for the Windsor Police. Worked on custom circuit boards (PCBs) for RF control and video feedback.
