Seventeen years of experience in Mechanical Design for the automotive, construction, school bus and railroad industries. Skilled in machine design, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics and structural engineering. Served as project manager and worked closely with customers, sales and vendors to achieve suitable and cost effective designs. Most recently have been exposed to the service side of the business as a Service Engineer and then as a District Service Manager covering 9 states. Through this experience I have been exposed to how the customers and the dealers view the product. Thomas Built Buses, Inc. November 2008 – Present

District Service Manager - SE

Look after 9 Midwestern states in the United States assisting with service and warranty related issues. Act as liaison between dealer and TBB OEM for service related issues. Give direction for aftermarket fixes to problems that arise. Administer policy requests as appropriate for TBB and Freightliner issues. Assist dealerships in building and expanding their service department’s territories, finding retail labor sales opportunities, reaching more customers in their state and assisting in building a service related business plan. Bring attention to TBB manufacturing, quality and engineering of items that need to be addressed in the field as well as their frequency of occurrences.

Achievements:

• Created outline of information needed in administering policy request to save both dealer and DSM time and efficiency of addressing the concern.

• Assisted in adding to territory coverage for several states in the Southeast and Midwest.

• Lead on process for VON/Recall tracking electronically involving all customer support entities.

• Visited over 300 individual customers and all dealership locations in my region.

• Assisted in TBB’s first few Service oriented training schools – TBB Institute.

• Helped several dealers formalize and execute training programs and events for their respective customers.

• Key in helping our Service Department come up with standardized work practices and deliveries of those to the dealer network.

October 2006 – November 2008

Senior Service Engineer

Troubleshoot Service related problems through all product lines for customers and dealerships as well as lead corrective action plans with Design Engineering for changes that were necessitated. Write PSB’s (Product Support Bulletins), VON’s (Vehicle Owner Notices) and Recall work instructions for corrective action to issues in the field. Create field service parts as needed with the use of Pro-E and Teamcenter. Coordinate with the Electrical Service Engineer at TBB and Chassis Engineering as needed. Maintain and monitor usage of VMRS coding for all parts and assemblies within TBB. Customer Support representative for all FDS projects.

Achievements:

• Created field fix for the conversion from break-away cross view mirrors to a more dependable fixed mounted cross view system.

• Created field fix for Pre-AG2 electric doors

• Created a field fix repair for FS65 and HDX floors to prevent cracking of sub-structure.

• Created a field retrofit from early two-piece driver’s window to new one-piece driver’s window.

• Created a field fix repair procedure for transit emergency egress windows.

• Created field fix for air door hex shafts breaking on C2 and legacy products.

• Currently working on several other field solutions.

• Established VMRS database and training for engineering at TBB to utilize.

March 2003- October 2006

Design Engineer

Lead group of designers for new product launch of C2 bus. Disperse and manage project assignments for those in the group to meet Engineering goals for launch. Also design & detail individually. Design and detail assemblies and parts for the type “A” bus called the Minotour as well as C2 conventional bus. The most current project is the new C2 window design.

Achievements:

• Designed and detailed parts and assemblies for new GM Flat floor for the Type “A” Minotour.

• Project leader with the new C2 conventional bus.

• Lead designer for the redesign of the window systems on C2.

Mid Bus Inc. June 2001 – June 2002

Project Engineer

Develop new body designs for GM and International bus chassis. Managed day-to-day needs for bus production and make changes for improvements in parts and processes. Managed production flow of busses and acted as liaison between Mid Bus, customers and state officials.

Achievements:

• Implemented new design for bus body on GMT 560 chassis and International 3200.

• Created seat assembly departments for in-house production of seats.

• Updated fixtures and adjusted processes for higher efficiency and quality of bus production.

Grob Systems Jan. 2000 – June 2001

Mechanical Detailer

Assist in designs and details of machining centers and automation. Grob’s products are specialty machines designed for the three major automakers and must follow ISO 9000 standards as well as QS9000 standards

Achievements:

• Created a spreadsheet identifying all block information in customer drawings for automated entries. This was estimated to achieve a 40% increase in time efficiency.

Cargotec Inc. Jan. 1997 – December 1999

Design Engineer

Determined special needs for mounting articulated cranes to truck frames. Designed truck mounts for three-wheel forklift and scale equipment. Calculated weight distributions for the customer truck or trailers for their equipment needs and desired payload. Served as Project Manager on all assigned projects. Assigned vendors as necessary to complete projects.

Achievements:

• Created and developed the first trailer mounted lift kit for forklifts allowing the operator to remain seated.

• Developed the first complete drywall package including crane, bed and accessories.

• Created a schedule to monitor truck traffic for work to be done on completed projects based on delivery requirements.

• Managed technicians and vendors on the completion of a Tire handler for Piedmont Trucks.

Difco Inc. August 1992 – December 1996

Designer/Draftsman

Designed and drafted railroad cars using AutoCAD. Designed and detailed the automation of ballast cars, flat and dump cars. Served as the Project Manager on design projects. Performed air brake tests on new and repaired rail cars.

Achievements:

• Assisted in the design of the first conversion from coal car to automated ballast system.

• Developed an air-dump system for lateral dump cars for the Andersons.

Designed fixtures and gages for the automotive industry, steel joist and girders for building construction and swimming pool liners. (T.R. Clark, Socar and DLM Corporation).
