♦ Organizing and administering educational curriculums in the subject of the responsible conduct of research (both for medical students and professional researchers).
♦ Organizing and presenting an institutional review board (IRB)-oriented educational initiative for research coordinators in the WCMC community.
♦ Organizing and presenting customized training sessions for investigators in areas including, but not limited to: IRB compliance, the general responsible conduct of research, adverse event reporting, IRB policies and procedures, ethical participation in human subjects research.
♦ Overseeing the training of WCMC investigators in the responsible conduct of research (via the CITI program), in order to meet federal, state, and institutional IRB compliance regulations.
♦ Performing for-cause and not-for-cause audits on researchers under the penumbra of quality assurance and improvement.
♦ Organizing the WCMC Research Integrity & Compliance Conference, which incorporated speakers and participants from twelve institutions throughout the Tri-State area.
♦ Giving bi-weekly presentations on the topics of research and research integrity at WCMC’s new employee orientation.
MEDICAL ETHICS ASSOCIATE June 2006 – June 2008

♦ Responsibilities included working as the on-site ethicist (office in house), chairing the ethics education sub-committee (division of the ethics committee), and serving as a member of the ethics consultation sub-committee.
♦ Worked with the education sub-committee to develop and incorporate better techniques for conversations regarding advanced care planning, and collaborated on funding the initiatives via grant writing and public relations.
♦ Developed an advanced care planning initiative for the Central New York community:
• Public relations work for this program has included live local television interviews on “The Bridge Street Show with Rick and Julie” (WSYR ABC 9) and “Weekend Today” (WSTM TV3), live radio interviews on “The Jim Reith Show” (WSYR AM 570), and a newspaper interview with Jim Mulder (columnist for the Syracuse Post Standard).

♦ Participated in regular board meetings concerning the general improvement of ethical health care in Central New York. Trained as an Advanced Care Planning Facilitator by the Gunderson Lutheran Medical Foundation (hired by the IEHC in Fall 2007).
