As a Pulp Prep Panel Operator Helper and move up Panel Operator my main purpose was to provide and deliver a steady flow of different types of pulp to the Tissue Machines and to be the level 5 leader of my crew and to hand off information about equipment issues to my co-workers at shift change. My role is a key player who focused on the overall safety, quality and supply of pulp to the paper machines.
Accountable of ensuring the daily operations for my department were taking place. Conducted daily morning meetings while working in coordination with other level 5 machine tenders to determine staffing needs, brand changes and machine downs, reporting to my asset leader.
Responsible for monitoring and running of High Density chests and presses at the control level as well as the operating level. Operates and monitors all department equipment on all floors, including save-all, refiners, pumps, valves, agitators and chests using Honeywell TDC and ABB computer monitors making adjustments as needed. Collects and test paper samples of all paper machines, adjusting dyes. Making up bulk chemicals and dyes. Troubleshooting equipment problems and call maintenance for repairs as needed. Proving on the job training for new crew members based on current skill level and position.
Maintained a clean and safe work place, with the ability to sustain a physically heavy work load in an environment which includes extremes in temperature, dust, humidity and noise levels.
Wrote and developed then documented energy control procedures for many chests (vessels) and pumps in my department and performed air test for confined space entry, conducted pre-entry safety meetings as well as prepared and set up locks, (ECP) and (CSE) paper work for co-workers for lock boxes prior to maintenances.
