1996 – 2001
As General Manager, organized and developed a 6,000- acre integrated sugar farming operation to provide critical raw material supply to the parent company’s sugar milling operation. Provided direct leadership to field operation managers, transport and logistics manager, finance manager, human resource manager, and security and safety manager. Total employees of about 1,500. With bottom line responsibility, conduct monthly operations and financial performance reviews. Attend regular monthly board meeting in corporate headquarters representing and reporting results of operations. Estimated size of operation is about $ 5.0 million.
Key Achievements:
Successfully developed target acreage of 6000 acres in 3 years, 1 year ahead of schedule.
Successfully organized and operated an independent and intensive transport and logistics operation
comprising up to 100 transport units during the peak harvesting season
Successfully increased the level of farm mechanization technologies by benchmarking and adapting
knowledge and acquiring the appropriate technologies from more advanced countries like Australia.
Successfully integrated computerization technologies as a key organization and operational enabler
and contributed to the success of transforming the company from start up to full blown operation
in record time.
DAVAO FRUITS CORPORATION.

1990 – 1995
As Vice President for Operations, presided over an intensive agricultural enterprise comprising 7,000 acres and 5,000 field operation employees. Provided leadership to six operating group farm manages, two engineering support groups, and one management services support group manager. The organization’s operational goal was to provide and serve the requirements for fresh and export quality Cavendish bananas to the large export markets of Japan, South Korean, and the Middle East.
As VP for Operations, the primary and key responsibility is to ensure that the operation is professionally organized, competently staffed , and highly responsive to the intricacies and operating environment of a large scale labor-intensive and technology intensive agricultural enterprise. Estimated size of operation is $40.0 million.
Key Achievements:
Successfully developed an expansion area of 1,500 acres in 18 months on what normally would take
36 months in the past
Successfully developed and instituted Total Quality Management ( TQM ) System which provided the
framework on how to organize and staff the organization in order to be a highly responsive and pro-
active rather than a reactive organization as was in the past.
Successfully provided leadership to the other strategic operating units of the company like the
research and technology division, materials management division, and transport and logistics
division that resulted to a more cohesive and responsive organization as a whole. This is
especially significant in satisfying the demands of various stakeholders of the company such as
the export market customers, in terms of product quality and seasonal availability; the
stockholders, in terms of satisfactory financial returns; and top management, in terms of less
management, operational, and human resource issues inherent in large scale labor-intensive and
technology intensive operations.
Successfully acquired and installed irrigation technologies in a large scale to various operating
farms that needed them.
HIGH PONDS AQUACULTURE, INC.

1987-1996
As Project Manager, was responsible for successfully developing and establishing a pioneering project on semi-intensive shrimp aquaculture operation with products intended for the export market. This project was started from developing the feasibility studies, to site identification, infrastructure design and eventual construction of the high technology production pond infrastructure, staffing and organizing , and most especially the adaptation of the appropriate pioneering technologies in intensive shrimp aquaculture production. Needless to say, attended technology training in countries with more advanced shrimp farming technology such as Taiwan and USA and finally the successful adaptation of these technologies to local conditions. Estimated size of operation $ 1.0 million
Key Achievements :
Successfully developed a pioneering technology-driven aquaculture project from the drawing
boards up to full implementation as an on-going business concern. Up to the present the project is
still in operation with the production ponds having withstood the test of time.
Successfully acquired leading technologies in aquaculture and adapting them to local conditions.
Successfully developing the organization, recruiting and training staff to the new technologies,
and developing production protocols that enable the project to be an on-going business concern.

As senior corporate planning staff, presided over strategic planning exercises to various operating companies of the JVA Group of Companies. Successfully provided consulting services to various operating units in the implementation of their strategic initiatives as a result of their various strategic planning exercises.

1982 – 1984
As Administrative Manager of the Quality Control Department of a large scale agribusiness enterprise producing Cavendish bananas for export, was responsible for ensuring the quality control systems of the company are sufficiently effective and responsive to ensure the successful production of certified export quality cavendish bananas to the satisfaction of customers. The group of companies operate 11,000 acres of banana farms with almost 10,000 employees. The size of operation is estimated to be about $ 65.0 million.
Key Achievements:
Pioneered the successful computerization of the quality control massive information systems that
resulted to a more timely and highly responsive feedback mechanisms to operating managers,
supervisors and senior management.
Instituted a continuous refresher course and training to all packaging and field operation
employees with regards to quality assurance systems and procedures with the ultimate goal of
instituting quality consciousness to all employees involve.
