CLINICAL EXPERIENCE:

Medical Technologist Intern - Full-time 52 hours per week
• Performed laboratory examinations in the different sections of the laboratory such as chemistry, urinalysis, hematology, blood banking, histopathology and microbiology to aid physicians in diagnosing and treating disease.
• Processed specimens for the assigned section following established guidelines for centrifugation, separation, and storage of blood and body fluids.
• Ensured compliance with government requirements, hospital policies and laboratory procedures, including maintaining the cleanliness of lab equipment, instruments and work area.
• Assisted the pathologist during an autopsy, gross examination of surgical specimens for routine tissue processing and performed special Immunohistochemistry stain to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
• Utilized the laboratory computer system for reporting patient test results, documentation of interpretative data, phone calls, and access to other patient or test information.

• Participated in the activities of a MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST in performing various chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests of body fluids, exudates, skin scrapings, autopsy, and surgical specimens to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
• Does clerical work such as record keeping, filing and typing of laboratory results, issuing charge tickets to patients and entertaining walk-in patients.
• Performed experimental testing procedures and submitted reports to the pathologist suggesting changes to ensure validity and reliability of tests.
• Performed quality control testing, instrument maintenance and trouble-shooting procedures following established laboratory and manufacturer guidelines.
• Performed Phlebotomy and other methods of specimen collection for laboratory testing.
