Professional Experience

Journey Counseling Services (2004-present)

Developed Journey Counseling Services as a private pastoral counseling practice to treat individuals, couples, children, and families, providing counseling for a wide variety of clinical issues. These issues include: abuse, PTSD, depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder, relational problems, anger, addiction, adolescent issues, and spiritual needs.

Baltimore Behavioral Health (2009)

(6-month temporary employee) Facilitated evening therapy groups for clients in an inpatient substance abuse setting. These clients were diagnosed with moderate to severe substance addiction, many were homeless, and most had dual mental health diagnoses. Therapy groups included topics such as anger management, relational/social skills, acceptance of diagnosis, relapse prevention, recovery within the family, anxiety, socio-economic stressors, among others. Applied DSM multi-axial diagnoses, treatment planning, and continuing research/education regarding group therapy and substance abuse to successfully treat these clients.

Howard County Health Department, Counseling Intern (2003-2004)

Treated individuals with mental health issues in a multi-cultural substance abuse setting. Client population comprised abuse victims; anger management clients; those with depression, anxiety, or PTSD; suicidal clients; and those with criminal backgrounds. Treatment also involved assessing/evaluating level of care, treatment plan development, and case management for those who were in financial, legal, vocational, or medical difficulties. Duties also included facilitating individual group therapy sessions for dual-diagnosis clients.

St. Mary of the Mills School, Counseling Intern, (2003)

Counseled students between the ages of five and fourteen with issues such as educational/developmental delays, peer problems, family issues, depression, separation anxiety, and bi-polar, behavioral, or school-related adjustment disorders.
