Responsible for over seeing day-to-day operations of creative department and creative staff. Work closely with Owner/Creative Director and staff of designers, account executives and writers on a wide array of print and electronic media, such as: corporate identity systems and business collateral, print and electronic advertising campaigns, catalogs, brochures, web sites and interactive media for the health care, industrial, business-to-business, food & beverage, educational and retail industries. All work developed on a Mac OSX computer platform, as well as a PC computer platform utilizing Adobe CS3 and CS4, Quark Xpress, Microsoft Office and Adobe Flash software systems. Worked closely with HTML programmers in the development of web sites, email advertising and promotional blasts.
October 2001 to March 2006: Andrew Ray Design, Milwaukee, WI — Freelance Graphic Design and Art Direction
Design and development of corporate identity systems (i.e., trademarks and subsequent application: letterhead, signage, collateral material, corporate literature, annual reports and brochures) for local, as well as national business, healthcare, educational and retail clientele. All design generated on a Macintosh computer system utilizing Quark Xpress, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. Provide all aspects of customer service to clientele including; project management, design and production of all projects from concept to finish. Utilize and manage freelance talent (i.e., designers, illustrators, photographers, copywriters etc.)
on small to large scale projects.
April 1996 to September 2001: Quad/Creative Inc., Milwaukee, WI — Graphic Design and Art Direction
Responsible for concept development through final production of a wide range of graphic design related projects such as corporate identity systems and logo design, corporate collateral and promotional pieces, sales literature and brochures, editorial and publication design, catalog design, packaging and internet site architecture and design. Proficient on Macintosh computer systems utilizing Quark Xpress, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Dimensions software. Worked closely with sales staff, customer service and production staff, copy writers and clients in all phases of the design process.
1994 to 1996: North Shore Magazine. Winnetka, IL — Art Director
Designed and art directed all aspects of art and design for local monthly consumer periodical. Worked with publishers, editors and production staff to produce and illustrate editorial articles, advertising/editorial supplements and promotional material. Helped develop a strict working budget for production costs. Hired professional freelance photographers, illustrators, writers, models and stylists, as well as, fine artists to visually illustrate the periodical. Layout and design generated on a Macintosh computer system using Quark Xpress, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Word software.
June 1993 to November 1993: Smith Lask and Associates, Inc. Chicago, IL — Freelance Art Direction and Design
Responsibilities included art direction and design of advertising campaign and collateral brochure for national trade account. Worked with the client, copy writers, photographers and creative director to produce the campaign within a very restricted budget. Art and design for the project were developed using a Macintosh computer system with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word and Quark Xpress software. Initial ideas created conventionally.
August 1992 to August 1993: ABD Group, Inc. Chicago, IL — Freelance Art Direction and Design
Responsible for the layout and design, as well as the art direction and coordination of freelance talent (i.e., freelance photographers, models and stylists) in the production of advertising and collateral material for direct mail, ROP and pre-press insertions for national retail account.
August 1990 to August 1992: P.A. Bergner and Company, Inc., Milwaukee, WI — Graphic Design and Associate Art Direction
Responsible for creating layout concepts, formats and designs for fashion and home catalogs, newspaper and magazine advertisements, newsletters and collateral material for the Boston Store in Milwaukee, Carson Pirie Scott stores in Chicago and Minneapolis-St Paul and Bergner’s department stores in northern and central Illinois.
