After completion graduation in the Metallurgical Engineering from NIT, Surathkal, Karnataka in the year 1986, joined as graduate engineer with TATA Motors, Pune, the largest Automobile makers in India. During my stint in TATA Motors for around 3 years, I worked in different sectors of automobile plant including foundry, heat treatment, testing & quality control.

My natural flair for teaching made me to join a polytechnic college in 1989 under Govt. of Orissa. I joined as a Lecturer in Metallurgical Engineering Department and continuing as a faculty member.

Presently I am working as a head of department of Metallurgical Engineering, with a intake of 30 students in a year. My total professional experience is around 24 years.

Present nature of the work:

Including my regular activity of teaching, testing & evaluation of students, I am also working as a technical export for metallurgical engineering with regards to course curriculum in the state level. Along with my normal teaching to engineering students at degree and diploma levels I am also managing the Community Development through Polytechnic (CDTP) cell of OSME as internal coordinator. CDTP is MHRD sponsored programs to train the socially backward students free of cost to empower them earn their livelihood. Last year we trained around 600 students in different engineering/non-engineering trades across the Keonjhar district of Odisha.

Significant professional achievements:

It is matter of great satisfaction for me to mention here that I have authored 3 technical books on Metallurgical Engineering till date.

The books are:

1. Fundamentals of Mineral Dressing (1999, 2011) – This Book are used as a Text Book at the Council and University level for Mining & Metallurgy engg. Students.

2. Mechanical Testing of Materials (2009) – This Book has been approved as a Text Book for Mechanical & Metallurgical Engineering at the Council level for the state of Orissa.

3. Introduction to Engineering Materials (2010) – This Book has already been approved as a Tex Book for the Mechanical Engineering students at the council level and have been submitted to the BPUT University for consideration as a Text Book.

Field of Expertise as a Faculty:

As a faculty of Metallurgical Engineering I can comprehensively teach he students in the following fields:

1. Mineral processing

2. Physical Metallurgy

3. Material Science

4. Extractive Metallurgy

Future Plan:

I am hopeful to pen down few more Books in the field of:

1. Manufacturing Engineering

2. Physical Metallurgy

3. Sponge Iron Making

Present Emoluments:

Presently I am enjoying a package 8 Lakhs per Annum excluding free housing, medical reimbursement and pensional benefits as per Govt. of Orissa rules.
