EXPERIENCE
Student intern @ Robert Bosch Automotive division, Bangalore, India (Jun 2009-Aug 2009) • Analyzed the plant layout design and optimal ratio of materials for the spark plug electrode. • Provide floor support engineering in subsystem assembly (SSA) areas, aided in preparing specimens of spark plug for sintering and further processing. • Interface with vendors, purchase capital equipment, justifies expenditures. • Investigated the use of resources and scheduling activities in order to meet an objective. • Gained practical knowledge of concepts like 5-S, POKE-YOKE, Lean manufacturing, Six-Sigma, Work-Flow diagrams, ERP systems.
• Prepared Bill of Materials (BOM), work order creations, EOQ concept understanding. • Initiate process and methods improvements. Implement changes in designs. • Significantly reduced wastage and end-to-end production time by leveraging expertise with Statistical policy control (SPC) methodology. • Other responsibilities included: Running meetings with supervisors, identifying ways to reduce production costs, working with engineering and other departments to investigate cost estimates for new designs, liaising with research and development departments, and analyzing graphs and statistics.
Research project, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India (Dec 2009–May2010) • Associated with Prof. Satish.V. Kailash (Product design and Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering Department IISc) and Prof.S.V.Satish (Department of Mechanical Engineering (PESIT)) worked on ‘friction stir welding’ of Aluminum and Titanium, at the Indian institute of science (IISC) Bangalore, where, these two metals were welded and analysis was done on the strength of the weld. Implemented Lean Manufacturing concepts, SPC in welding reducing 25% of the cost and improved throughput by 30%.
Halliburton Corporation, Dallas, TX (Sept 2010-Dec2010)
• Proposed a design for production sleeve.
• Analyzed concepts like gathering of customer needs, translating them to engineering problems.
• Research for optimization of design, Selection of material and rapid prototyping.
• Prepared documentations and responsible for releasing of reports and test cases to lead on time.
• Designed & illustrated 2D and 3D models by using Solid works.
OTHER EXPERIENCES
Application of SAS for data mining, analytics, business intelligence, cleansing, quality, reporting (Sept 2010-Present)
• Firsthand experience with designing and developing project-specific SAS programs like producing analysis datasets, graphics and reports, included match-merging & summarizing the data on Windows/Unix platforms.
• Generate reports either in HTML, PDF or RTF formats (ODS).
• Performed regression, time-series and other statistical analysis on a large data set to forecast the output vs. demand requirements.
• Environment and tools: SAS/Base, SAS/Stat, SAS/Graph, SAS/SQL, SAS/Macros, SAS/ Access, MS-Excel
Modeling of airline revenue management and allocation of seats with overbooking limits (Sept 2011 – Dec 2011)
• Application of Dynamic programming, Airline revenue management, stochastic optimization, Utility theorem techniques to the forecasted demand data to obtain the number of seats allocated and maximum revenue.
• Analyzed the data and fitted it to approximate distributions to obtain the parameters to calculate the seat division.
• Developed the algorithm and code in MATLAB for analysis of distributions and allocation of seats using EMSR[b] concept.
• Simulated the values and optimized the revenue objective function with constraints on capacity and show up of customers.
Establishing a relief center problem (Jan 2011 – Jun 2011)
• Mathematical modeling of establishing a relief center problem using CPLEX/AMPL.
