Work Experience

Free-lance work in Adobe programs (2011)

Employed at Giant Food as product bagger, shopping cart management, cashier, and in dairy department (2008-2009)

As a product bagger the job was to assist the cashier at the specified checkout lane and to bag corresponding items (for example, don’t put items such as apples and fish in the same bag) at a fast rate. At the customer’s request, special bagging arrangements were accommodated. Some customers liked their bags in paper and plastic and/or brought their own bags.

In working with shopping carts, the assignment was to make sure shopping carts were available to the customers at all times; which included making sure the shopping carts were sitting right at the entrance of the store. Shopping carts were often left sitting at the side of the building or in the temporary cart holders in the parking lot. While not necessarily specified, it was appreciated if the shopping carts were arranged in a neat fashion.

As a cashier, the job involved a lot of customer service skills; greeting customers with a smile and a friendly voice while at all times being pleasant. Ringing up the items appropriately, not missing items, and making sure the full amount of money was paid so that the register didn’t come up short were of utmost importance. If there were no bagger to available, the cashier has to bag all of the items alone; unless the customer his/herself feels the need to assist.

Inner office and filing assistant at Magnolia Plumbing (2007-2008)

Primarily completed the task of filing while assisting workers in the office with basic needs/running errands.
